Question

Please help,

I have just recently fitted a Forge dump valve. But I have a problem there isn't a loud 'whooshing' noise just a very subtle one which I can barely hear. Does a dump valve need some time to run in or do they instantly run well. Would it be a good or bad idea to spray WD40 on the valve(maybe its stiff). Please help.

Thanks

Ryan

dont put WD40 on it..! it has its own lubrication... have you got it all connected up right...???

Did you fit it on the right pipe.... i.e the one coming from the intercooler and not from the intake...???

Have you got a digital camera, if so take some pics and post them on here so we can see if its all connected up ok..

I'm assuming you've bought a vent-to-atmos one??? I have a Forge recirc DV - it makes a very (very very) subtle whoosh on dump, certainly nothing like the VTA ones!
Assuming you have bought a VTA one, check the piston is working properly (give it push from underneath). They can stick when new (I replaced my first recirc one as the piston was sticking/squeaking).

The forge comes with a pretty strong spring.
If you give them a call they will supply you with a replacement spring. From memory, they come with a red spring and you want the blue one.

I may have that the wrong way round, but I'm sure that's right

My Forge VTA came with the blue (weaker) spring. It wasn't very loud compared to my old Baileys Evo VTA and the release was very short and sharp, again compared to the Baileys.

Phoned Forge and they sent me the red spring, now at low boost I get the chatter and at high boost I get the Ptshht. The chatter by the way is actually caused because there isn't enough pressure to open the valve and it's the air stalling the turbo fins, not overly heathly for your turbo.

Very easy.
Use a small allen key to undo the 6 black bolts.
The two halves seperate, take out the big spring and replace it with the new one.
Put it all back together.
