Question

Could anyone out there provide me with the actual performance figures for a MY '97 'R' plate standard Scooby Turbo?

It seams that Autocar has only tested the Scoob back in '94 when it was launched, I have a one of the '98 Sportswagon and the WRA STi vs the EVO 5.

I have around 90% of the Autocar mags since '89 which is quite impressive.

I know that the '94 model has less torque than my MY97 car and that the engine was updated again in '98 with more BHP.

Can anyone help me??

Cheers

Thumbs up

Your right your model has more torque than previous models. However the horsepower increase wasnt until the 99MY.

You should expect at least 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and 0-100 in about 14.6 seconds.

My car (MY97)was quite laggy under 3500rpm, but came on song after that and would pull up to 150mph within 1.25 miles.

It was totally standard but when I traded it in and the salesman test drove it, he asked me if it had been modified because of the way it went.

My (MY99) new car will now pull 150mph but only after I fitted a scoobysport back box. However it is not so laggy and is far better in town, no embarassing moments when you try to nip across a junction for instance.

The above runs were carried out on a disused airport runway before anyone gets excited.

At 150 mph both cars are still accelerating but I didnt feel any need to go any faster and the rate of acceleration had tailed off by then.

Maybe not the answers you asked for, but probably of some help.

Cheers Beastie!

I thought the 0-60 would be more like 5.7secs & the 0-100 around 17-18secs.

I would love to have a RB5 WR for my next car, but with the rising petrol costs and insurance I think my next car would be something like a VW Golf GTi TDI 130 or Audi A3 TDI 110

Thanks Again

Cool

Hi Ricky
Yes the 0-60 of 6.4 seconds was the brochure time. However under testing the MY97 cars could easily get under 6 seconds. I read that 5.6 was the best attained for a standard motor.

The 0-100 time was from a test I read at the time on the MY97.

Clearly you are paying attention to this BBS, but my RB5 is not a WR yet. However it will be shortly.
