I think you will find that as long at it has been serviced regularly and had all the bits replaced at the proper times you should be OK. Is far as I know, no one has had any problems with them *just because* they have done a lot of miles. The engine is built well and can take it. Just needs the proper care.

My MY95 turbo is coming up to 130k miles and still drives well. Smooth, quite, fast

Question

I'm new to the Impreza and have been offered a High Mileage Sport , but at a Very low price.

Its a 97 2.0 Sport with 140 000 on the clock, with full Subaru Service History. The mileage initially put me off. But I thought I'd ask some people who know what they're talking about

What is the worst, if it all goes bang.. What sort of money am i looking at for a new bottom end? and also what are the other perils of buying such a high mileage scoob.

Anyone give me any pointers??

Cheers

Paul

Nice things about subarus, in my experience, is that the engines seem immortal (at least compared to other aluminum blocks). I've seen subarus go well into the 300K range before they feel any ill-effects. You should be more worried about bodyrot or burning oil than anything else. listen to the turbo and make sure it sounds healthy. other than that you should be all set.

Oooh I think you'll get next to no boost at all from the turbo on a sport with that kind of mileage

How much is it? I just part exed mine which sounds the same, only with 76 thousand miles?

I part exed for 7k and the dealer is selling it for 8k.

My reasons were that I do lots of miles, and thought that they were getting to the point where I would start to loose value quicky. You would be buying at the other end of this if the price was right. I would not be paying more that 5k for it. And would want 12 month waranty, or at least 3 to 4, and a FSH

Cheers.

The car is nearly immaculate and seems well looked after, allthough I have only "glanced" at it. I've been offered it for £4750.

I will keep it for approx 2 years and do about 9000 miles a year.

Other than this, I think I'll get a 1.8 for about the same price, but this would be couple of years older without the high miles.

I have just used the parker guide and Its worth £7700 if normal miles (35-40K). For every 1000 miles above this you take away £43=£4300

Cars value £3400. Is it from a dealer?? There will be others about IMHO (and it don't count for sh*t) that is not a good deal!

I'm in the same boat..

I've got around 5k to play with and was hoping to find an early Sport, but I've been looking for Months and haven't found anything suitable , i'm looking at resigning myself to a GL , If i could insure a turbo there'd be no probs .

I really want to keep my next car standardish apart from alloys and exhaust, and if i get a GL, it would mean a whole lot of work to get it up to scratch.

If you happen to find a couple of sports knocking about.. Save me one

Andy
