I'm on the verge of joing the fun and buying myself a new 2000 Turbo :-)

Just a thought - will I be subject to special attention from plod? I'm currently able to blend into the background in my Focus. Would this be a thing of the past?

Depends where you stay, I got followed by every poilce car in Glasgow for the first couple of weeks, then once they were happy I was left alone

Mind you, they are hardly an uncommon sight here, it is a strange day if I don't see 5 on my 3 mile journey to work.

Haven't been stopped yet in 2 + years

Probably 'cos I don't drive like a complete wazzock & attract attention

Not been eyeballed by them either...

I do drive a 5dr so haven't got a f'off large spoiler on my boot

Also live in SE (Cambs/Essex/London my stomping grnd) & although I do see them, they're not exactly multitudinous around those parts...

By not stamping on the gas as soon as you see them in the rear view mirror.

You obviously haven't done something dodgy liked just nicked it.

In 16 months of Impreza ownership I got stopped at least once a week, sometimes more - but only once for a real offence.

In 6 months of BMW ownership I have been stopped once

Same roads, same driver, same driving style.

Bought STi5 from a geezer in Kent on Tuesday night. Got pulled up in Manchester on Thursday night. Three cop cars and 6 coppers later, they let me go.

Thumbs down

Yup, here in Sweden it's really bad...almost every day I get the evil eye from the rozzers, and at least once a week I've got an unmarked unit tailgating me waiting for me to make a mistake.

Wnakers.

For example, last Sunday I was driving home from my brothers, and overtook an old lady and a truck a bit "briskly", and when I'd passed them I immediately slowed down...and I see 2 lights coming closer at a fair rate of knots...just to pull in behind me and stay there for 20 miles...I mean the ****** was really tailgating me, I should've tested my headlight spray shouldn't I.

They're just jelaous, and itching to get U.

Had my UK MY97 for well over a year now and never had any hassle from or been stopped by the police despite having to drive through some very dodgy areas of Manchester to/from work It might have something to do with the fact my cars been debadged and has the small low level rear spoiler so it doesn't attract as much attention as Sti's.

Where were you stopped Kippax?

After I picked up my wrx I didn't even make it the 5 mile journey home without getting pulled over and ticketted, and again that night and the next day.

I think it was just because my exhaust was _way_ too loud as after I got a resinator fitted my fines were waived and I haven't been in trouble since.

I just drove everywhere well under the speed limit, it is amazing how quickly they get bored following a car doing no more than 25mph.

As a second option, I could have pulled over into the first available car park, and started telling jokes

Had the car for 18 months now and have never been stopped.

Lucky I guess. Or it could be the fact that they don't expect a woman to have stolen a scoob.

Wink

I live in Bristol and haven't been bothered by the plod. They do have a little look when they drive past or come along side at lights. Best thing to do is smile.

Cheers Phill C

PS I did get stopped by a Policeman walking along, cause I had my spot lights on. Whoops.

Near Platt Fields Alex. I might have seen your car about. Is it dark blue. I work in the centre of town.

Not me - mines a green MY97 with gold speedlines. I work in town too, around the MEN arena area.

There was a scooby hijacked in Manchester a few weeks ago and the driver was hit over the head with a bat/bar IIRC so that might be why they responded with that many cars. Normally the police just follow me for a few minutes to make sure its not reported stolen and to make sure I know they are around.
