Just put it up against a GT-R 33 he beat me by 1 sec over a 2.5 km hill climb
this is the only time he beat me

We've got a MY97 with just over 80,000 on the clock. Have had no problems with it at all. Still performs as well as ever.

Cheers,
Tom

Well, I know I won't be the top contender but my beast has done 119,000kms, about 75,000miles, and is still running strongly. It "appears" to still have a fair few kms in it, I'm hoping at least another 20,000 for me!

Thanks for the input! that sounds promising then, just wasnt sure as everyone you see advertised always seems to be low mileage. i have nothing to worry about yet then atr 24000. what sort of money for gerarbox rebuild or even engine rebuild? i suppose once out of waranty you could do somthing abit more special with the engine when it needs rebuilding, anyone done that with there pride and joy? cheers Lee

wifes legacy turbo has got 140,000miles on it and its fine. the secret is regular servicing with lots of oil changes(every 3-4000 miles) with good quality oil.
cheers richie

Lee,

got a UK95 with 70K miles on the clock. Touch wood, the engine still feels very fresh as does everything else except the gearbox. Still on original clutch and 1st gear synchro is feeling a little 'tired'. I'm probably looking at a recon or replacement gearbox in 5-10k miles and clutch maybe sooner. From tentative inquiries new gearboxes are acutally quite cheap and a recons are too. The big cost is I think will be labour, since it's an engine out job - much the same as the clutch replacement.

I did 90000 miles in my brand new MY98 in just over 2 years - spent next to nothing on it in that time in repairs.

However due to it being driven quite hard there was a few things that needed doing when it went back to contract hire co. e.g. shocks, tyres and a major oil leak in engine (£600 repair!!)

The suprise was that the clutch was still in one piece!!

Remember that high milage in Scoob can cost the licence dear

Cheers

Just over 100k and running like a dream!

Putting out 232 BHP on a MY96, not bad.

All sounds like good news! it was one of those do i get rid when the waranty is up, as i like to plan ahead what to get next, problem is im sstill not that keen on new shape, so i will just chuck some money at this one to make it abit more special. i only get it serviced as specified by the main dealer, do alot of you change your oil and filter in between services, i suppose its good for it but as the service gaps arent huge just wondered if anyone did? cheers Lee

One of the best ways to preserve an engine is to make sure the engine oil is regularly changed. I have always changed mine 1/2 way through the service interval. If that means every 2000 miles so be it. Oil and filter doesn't cost a lot.

Remove the engine oil filler cap on any old ford to find out what a lack of oil change does. Black gunk.

Cheers

MY 92 Legacy Turbo, sold 4 months ago with 213K miles. Regularly serviced (oil change every 3-4K for last 6 years)

Original engine & gearbox, diffs etc. with lots of bolt on goodies + chipped, est. 260-280bhp.

Ran (and still is running) great - strong accelleration with no clouds of oil etc.

(had less paint chips on bonnet than my 28K miles impreza )

Valve spring let go at 95,000 miles but all done under warrenty by THWhite in Cirencester.

Maintained to schedule by Thwhite until 98k then by Powerstation in Cheltenham (as I only live down the road)

New Tar ox pads/disks at 104,000 miles

Still very fast, Im doing a track day at Anglesey on Friday :-)

I have a MY93 Legacy Turbo that has done 88K and is still great, has had a new clutch but that was due to some joyriders being over enthusiastic....
