I AM NOT A HAPPY CHAPPY (and yes I know I am SHOUTING )

My mate just came back from the shops and said 'did you know someone has keyed your car?" to which I replied, cos he's a bit of a joker, "yeah right, very funny" he then said "I'm not joking mate, go have a look"

So I do, lo and behold, rear passenger side door has a nice big deep scratch along it, grrrrrrr! Now, it could have been me, as the road I drove to work on is lined with trees, so I may have caused it on a branch, but I tend to favor the "litte $hit keying it" theory.

suffice to say I'm not chuffed. As to when it happened, well, that's another thing, could have been anytime from monday to this morning when my mate spotted it, but as the car is black, and fairly clean, the scratch sticks out like a sore thumb, but it being on the passenger side means I might not have seen it.

grrrr, if I do find out it was git and I find out who it was they will be getting a little "talk" from me, and maybe something else.

If it was me, then fair enough, but I think I would have heard this nasty scraping sound, but maybe not given the loud exhaust and the Shamen blaring out of the stereo.

ho hum, the joys of owning a nice motor.

IF it's not down to the bare metal the Wax Wizard can probably get most of it out.

Looks like it is down to the metal

so, what about repair methods? what do you lot recommend? Halfords scratch repair worth a go? or get my garage to do it (he did a fantastic job on the other bodywork damaged)

I've chilled out a little bit, but still not happy. I know it's only a car, but when you've spent a bit getting it fixed and then washed and waxed it so it looks nice and then this happens it kinda puts a downer on your day.

****, me too.

I believe it was what is referred to as "Asda Trolley Rash" in my case, as the scratch just doesn't look right to be hand created.

Some careless twonk in Asda, only place car has been parked!!

cheers guys n gals!

think it might have been done in car park, so barry's trolley rage might be the culprit.

BobaFett - thanks, got the unbeliveable album the other week, had LSI on it and Move Every Mountain, classic tunes, did have Boss Drum on tape, but tape broke so had to go and get it on CD so now I've got Ebeneezer Goode and Commin' On blasting out. God that takes me back.

Sorry to hear about the scratch. Some little SH*** did the same to my passenger door at Macro Car Park in Leeds. The scratch is down to the metal with a nice dent all the way down. I contacted KT Greens in Otley who quoted £220 pounds for the repair which also includes a small dent on the driver side door.

Some ******* keyed my car when it was less than two weeks old. Made a mistake of leaving it up Chipping Sodbury high street overnight. On my return the following day, some **** had keyed it all across the bonnet and down the drivers wing and door.

Why ???

Cheers Phill C

I didn't get keyed, but somebody did give the back of the car a boot when I was out and about. Got a soleful of stones, gave it a big boot, and then dragged their foot down. Cracked the light, and scratched the boot lid, spoiler and rear panel all in one go (£300 to fix)! Quite impressive I'm sure you'll agree, but not half as impressive as the kicking they would have got if I'd have caught them doing it....

gregh,
funny you should mention chips away. when I was with Rum*/Pirum/Tom at Lancasters on Saturday the guy there looked at the scratch and said that chips away should be able to do it as the car was black, any other color and they might not have been able to help. Will give them a buzz and see what they say.

*edit to add the following*
Seems that they also do a chips away service at my local halfords garage, which would be more than convenient!

Red face

sorry to hear about that Markus.

happens to a lot of us though.

week after i got mine some old moo decided to drive down the passenger side of my car leaving a nice car-length scratch down it. worst thing was she drove off after without looking back and worse still ... i didn't get her number plate so couldn't do nowt.
but if i did get hold of her, would prob be locked up in nick now - so lucky really.

neways, weekend spent with bottle of t-cut, cloth and turtle-wax sorted it though. lucky.

Sal.

not tried to t-cut it yet, might give it a go tonight. Must say that when the 'big' damage was done a while back, t-cut did get the car back to looking a hellva lot less scratched than it was. might be worth a shot.
