May have to lay the scoob up for a few months until I get another job. Anyone got advice on how to store it so not too much goes wrong whilst it's off the road?

Have thought about one of those filtered air cocoon things, but what about fluid levels, flat spotting the tyres, specific insurance etc. etc.?

Any help appreciated (especaially if you have a dehumidified, warm garage that you want to let out rent free for a while! )

Seriously... I think you can go to a number of extremes..

If you jack the car up and put in on bricks then the tyres won't flat spot etc.. leave the handbrake off and the car out of gear..

Should be fine, if you can get someone to start it once a week or even move it once a week then this might be the best bet..

You can get to further extremes with polish treatment for the paintwork (polish on and then polish off when you get it out)
and you can put some oil in the engine bores etc.. but I don;t think any of that is neccessary for only a month of two..

I leave my car on the drive for a week to two weeks on regularly through the summer and I find if it has not been used for 2weeks then the brakes lock on (although this is probably the rain etc rusting the disks) and the tappets rattle a little until the oil circulates..
So I make sure I use it at least once a week.

You could change the oil before and after but for two months might just be worth doing afterwards or not neccessary..

Depends how extreme you want to go.

If you live anywhere in the south near London, just leave it in the street without TOO much security. The local yobs can nick it, then you get a nice new one when you go back to work. Simple really.

wedge the clutch pedal down using a bit of 4 X 2 against the drivers seat as well as the above.

no much petrol either, then before starting it can 10 or 15 liters of good SUL or optimax in & start it & leave to run & work its way thru, then gental run to the garage to fill up

 

Depending on how long you are going to leave it but petrol can go 'off' although I think it takes at least 12 months or more.

Seem to remember once reading that car should be stored with a full tank to prevent corrosion from moisture inside it, but I guess most bits are plastic or rubber now?

had mine sat out on drive for 5 months recently, handbrake got stuck on which was a bummer to get off, battery went flat as to be expected but otherwise it was spot on.
