I took my car into my local dealers yesterday for an interim oil change and asked for them to disconnect the crank sensor to establish oil pressure prior to starting the engine. I took quite a bit of persuading that this was a good thing to do. I was told that this word cause the OBD2 to show and error code and then told they would have to connect the select monitor and run various tests to clear the fault ! Is this true ! Would the CEL go out after the crank sensor is reconnected ? Also they suggested that this was not a good idea as the engine would get unburnt fuel going into the CATS. Surely the ECU would not pulse the injectors if the crank sensor is disconected ?

Why would you want to establish oil pressure before firing the engine anyway?
Understand it may be nice to get the pressure up before to reduce engine wear. But what R u going to do disconnect the sensor everytime you start the engine.

Seems a bit OTT to me.
