I always use BP Superplus 97RON (or Esso if I can't find a BP).

Where oh where can I get 98RON from (I'm in the Basildon area of Essex).

What RON is Optimax? Had a tank full the other day, half way done and it's LOVELY. But no shell within a million miles so it's back to the 97

Quote from Shell Webpage:-

What is the Octane level of Shell Optimax?

Shell Optimax has the highest octane specification of any petrol in the UK. It is greater than 98 Research Octane Number (RON).

I have heard people mention that on some forecourts the SUL from Esso and BP is rated as 98 on the pumps. Is there any truth in this anyone? If not then Optimax is probably the highest at 98.6 but unfortunately not all SHell stations have it.

At least you're not being tormented like I am. Shell about 300yds from my house has had Optimax signs up for 6 months now, but still haven't had a delivery (due to him being a bad payer apparently).

Nearest one after that is 20 miles away. Always seems a bit obsessive going 40 miles, for £30 worth of fuel.

Super has been 97 RON in the UK for ages. Pumps showing 98 RON have the wrong sticker on...

{AFAIK! }

Opti is Actually 95 Ron plus octane boosters to take it up to 98.6.
Esso SUL 97 ron + your own octane booster is a good alternative.

Cheers
