In honesty, I would say if you can get £16,250.00 for a MY00 on an X plate then that is what its worth.

I don't think its about what your car is worth though, its about what someone is prepared to pay for it. Lets face it, EU imports etc have brought the prices down and shifted the scale on second hand cars for the worse if your the seller.

Plenty of choice for Scoobys on Autotrader these days so people are fussier and have more leverage on your price as we all know there are plenty to choose from unlike a few years back when they were like hens teeth.

laters

£16250!! No Way!! IMHO

I had mine with PPP, 17" P1 wheels and Scoobysport brakes advertised from between £12225 and £13,500 in autotrader and many site and had alot of interest, but no buyers. It is a V reg Jan 2000 model, and is going to a dealers Friday for much less than the above figures

http://www.parkers.co.uk

is a better site for prices IMHO, a X reg with 30k miles comes in between £11-13k

£16,500 not a small furry animal in a very hot place's chance. Check out the For Sale forum, STi's going for less than that and struggling to sell, more like £11-12k.

Just sold my MY00 Y plate with 24K miles on it. Had P1 wheels & full catless exhaust........

Went for £14,500

J

edited to say.... It was a UK car and listed at £23200 new when I got it from the dealer, but I didn't pay anything close to that

gregh,

isnt the parkers guide for trade users? and therefore gives you the price that you would expect as a trade in, the aa is more for the public.

Traded my MY00 W reg with 27K miles in for £12,500 against an STi a couple of months ago, thought it seemed a bit low, but didn't want hassle of private sale, doesn't seem so bad now.

Nope, it gives you trade price and then differing prices based on condition.

any second hand car buyer with an ounce of sense will check out the parkers prices...the website is very private buyer orientated.

ScoobySnack,

You did very well to get that price!!

Sold my Immaculate W plate, 17,000 mile totally standard MY00 without aircon to a dealer in February for £12650. At the time I felt robbed but I needed to get rid of it quickly (2 year service + brakepads + road tax looming).

Afterwards the dealer I bought my next car off let me have a look at his glasses guide and it said trade in value was 14K.

Now 7 months later it seems that the going price for this car privately would be around 12K so I dread to think what it would be worth as a trade in now!!

But don't be too upset it seems that all cars have lost a lot of value in the last 6 months, especially performance/prestige cars. Maybe this is due to Imports and maybe it's due to the current uncertain economic climate but I think prices still have a fair way to fall yet.

Red face

If I can get £16k for my car I'll be very happy.
All depends on spec as well.
Sonic Blue cars attract a slightly higher premium I reckon, and a well cared for car with history and decent mods will fetch a good price.

16k is the retail/screen price. You need to click on the 'accurate valuation' link!

Price is more like 13k.

Remember a site like the AA will want to show higher prices as there is a link to there finance section!!!!

I'd agree its worth around 13k. I've got a 'W' plate MY00 with 20000 miles on and I'd be well happy if I got 12k (not that I'm selling it) - I only paid 15.5k new.

I have an MY00 WRX (grey import) and was offered 17K in part ex recently, just shows that greys may not be such bad news .

SimonH - it's not what the dealer says he is giving you for yours as part of the trade in, it's what he is selling you the new one for - what you paying (all in ) for the P1?

Well, I own a 2000/W reg. which cost the best part of £22k - after 2 and a half years I would say it sits at £13k .......... a 69% Residual figure - which is VERY respectable in the current climate!

There are buyers out there BUT they do NOT want modified cars, Imported cars (from Japan OR the EU), cars without full Subaru Main dealer histories are seen as a risk too.

A modified car is not worth less simply because of the mod BUT because it says volumes about the owner and how the car may have been driven - I would hazard a guess that a SENSIBLE backbox would not affect value too much ..... but if it looks like a NovaBoy has owned it you are up **** creek without a boat!!!

And EVERYONE knows that an import cost the owner less when new so want to share in that reduction come re-sale time .... hence its worth less.

One final point, if you own a 'straight' Impreza, one of impeccable pedigree, FSSH, UK and standard then you will NOT get the best price by advertising it on Scoobynet ............ Scoobynet For sale section is for the unsaleable (on the open market) heavily modded or jap import cars which the general membership of Scoobynet wet their knickers for
