Hello All,

I've been getting prices for a 4 dr Impreza Turbo to replace my UK Main Dealer supplied MY99.

Litchfield are doing said car OTR for £16158 + £350 for alarm.

Dealer in Holland says same car for E 21500,00 = £13,695. VAT = £2396. Alarm = £350. Total = £16441.

Looks very much Litchfield have got it sewn up. I know that people here have imported themselves thru main dealers on the continent, did you get it cheaper than £16500 or did you DIY for the adventure?

p.s. Dealer in holland says delivery in 5 - 6 months.

Any experience you have to share gratefully rec'd as ever!

Jason

I impoted from Belgium, a place call Garage Knockaart.

No probs at all, + I got the three year warranty

Also you need to think about the cost of shipping. I worked out it was about £500 to self collect with fuet, trade plates, and boat costs. In the end I got a company called CSS to do the transporter work for me. Only cost me £275, and I picked it up from london.

Alain was quite good. He DHL'd me the COC after receiving the final balance, so I could register the car even before it arrived. I had my numnberplates ready for when I collected

(dont forget Registration, and number plates. Add £200 for that. )

Actually I spoke to the guy a month ago, as I am looking for a new STI. He told me he would give a group discount. Would you be interested. (PS Waiting for new shape)

Thumbs up

Hi

I got my MY01 via Holland for less than this, but the main factor was that the exchange rate was better. Pick it up yourself - £19 flight via EasyJet, £10 rail fare, £80 ferry + a great day out.

Added Alarm and NavTrak for security. Only got a 1 year warranty (would be 2 years now), but the saving was worth it.

Duncan

PS Forgot to mention, instruction book in English, Service book in Dutch.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Am I interested in a group buy? probably not at this stage unless the discount was significant. I would have to get rid of my current car and another one before I'm ready and at this stage I'm not absolutely sure about a new age Impreza. I've really enjoyed my MY99 but there are so many other cars!

If I do go for a new shape I might be in touch.

Cheers Jason

Jason,

I'm not sure how people are quoting for import WRX's as any cars ordered now will be MY03 cars, yet nobody knows what they are going to look like and AFAIK the price is unknown also.

Looks like the two quotes you have are for MY02 cars which can't be ordered anymore.

I think this is correct....

If you do it yourself you will be the first name in the log book.

If Ian does it you will be the second, 'cos he will have to register it to buy it.

Thus you will be the owner of a pre-owned car, which could knock a bit off the value

I may be wrong, in which case I'm sure somebody will tell me

Stu

You are right about the MY03 and the pice not being known. I have heard a rumour that the price of a uk Impreza might fall to £19995 with the MY03 (which would help delears sell more).

Nigel good point about the log book, I'd have to ask when ordering.
Thanks I hadn't thought about that!

kind regards
Jason

Even if you use a broker, you will still be the first on the log book as they work on your behalf for an admin fee or get comission from the dealer. All the paper work is in your name and the car should be registered in your name.

Some cars bought from a Car Supermarket will be pre-reg'd due to the way they are aquired

Got mine MY02 from Belgium had delivered to my door no problems & all for around 15K, purchased via snoop4cars.com they use Alain at Knockaert Garge quite good had to wait 6 months but it is worth it. They do all the paper work you just sit back & wait, they were also offer a self import service for £80 but I would go direct when I do it again. I also have a 3 year warrenty.
