Question

Got a mate who is thinking of getting a RB5 4 door and wanted to get some thoughts to pass on to him. I reckon he should try to source one with PPP and the WR Sport rear spoiler, and try to get it from a UK dealer if possible.
Questions;
1. How much to pay at dealer?. Not paying silly 'premium prices' though, i.e.£20,500+
2. How much for a private sale?.
3. Any issues with the RB5, with or wothout the PPP?.
4. How important is the mileage, if above the average per year?.
5. Know anyone (dealer or private) with a nice one for sale, with remaining warranty of course.
Cheers,
Gareth.

Hi Gareth,
I bought a WRSport on 6 weeks ago and love it to bits. Awesome performance and gets a lot of admiring glances. A real drivers car. I paid just over 20 for it from a main subaru dealer.
Mail me off line if you want further info

Awesome

I think Bell & Colvill have a RB5 WR in with 8k for 19,995 on a T plate. Sounds good to me.

Heritage in Leicester have a non PPP RB5 in stock. At least I think it's non PPP. It has the MY00 spoiler not the WR type. About £18500 I think but don't know the milage.

Personally if I was going for one it would have to be the WR Sport..

Got one, Love it. Prefer the RB5 interior and the quickshift.

rb5261-I'd be very interested to hear from you about this RB5 you part exchanged at Bell and Colvill. Can you e-mail or call me ASAP. My number is 07769641795.

Any more views out there on the Scoobynet?. Would especially like to hear some comments on the money to pay for one of these cars.

I have just put mine up for sale. Registered April 99, number 53/444. It's a non-Prodrive version and I absolutely love it. 25500 miles, full Subaru history, warranty until April 2002. Normal RB5 spec; 17 inch Speedlines, Air Con etc, plus 6 stack and Navtrak system. Quickshift gear change is great, as I think someone else mentioned. My only reason for selling is because my mileage is going up and I dont want to put it on the Scooby. I'm looking for £17995, but will take a near offer. If your friend wants more details, e-mail me. Cheers, Nick.

Cool

Get a wrsport if you are going to get one. Fantastic car - but then i would say that cos i've got one

Oh no good if you need to fold the rear seats

Seriously though they are well worth the additional premium for the extra goodies (more insurance friendly than modding a std turbo) and rumour has it they are appreciating at the moment ??

Steve - talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

Gareth - you've got to try to be truthfull they loose a lot less than your std car mainly cos they are like rocking horse sh*t.

My car is standard rb5 wr sport (ie rb5 with ppp + prodrive rear wing added to the normal quickshift colour, wheels etc). The beauty of this is that if you can prove the original owner bought the car as such (ie paid £27k instead of £24k) then for insurance purposes (in my experiance - when they finally understand what the hell you are on about - your car is standard (not modded) much in the same way that a p1 is a seperate model (you dont pay a premium for a std turbo modded, you pay for a p1). Yes the car is group 18 not 17 but modded imprezas are a lot higher .

So suddenly the rb5 wrs is a really good idea - if you can find one.

Drive a standard turbo then drive a wrs and i think you will see what i mean . which reminds me got to do something about the brakes

Recently bought an RB5 WR for just over 21k from a main dealer, the car is absolutely mint, 1 owner, fsh, 12k miles + additional 4 year warrenty (on top of standard 3), I looked at some other RB5 WR's for aroung 20k but prefered to pay the premium to a dealer for a car without a mark on it. Test drove the RB5 WR at B&C (not the 7.5k, they had a 17k there 7 weeks ago)interior ripped and some dodgy noises changing gear. The car is fantastic, test drove 3 Evo V1's but selected the Scoob as it was a better all round car plus the wife refused to go to Asda with a new born in the Evo.

Parkers quote an A1 RB5 WR as £20,750 at the moment.

Go for it

In that case a 99T should be under 17 grand.

JJK,

Not surprised that one went quickly. I must say I was having thoughts myself at that money.

Shooting my self in the foot!!

No just trying to get rid of the car quickly

Offered between £12,500 VW and £14,000 (Subaru) as trade ins which is less than what I owe on the car so trying to sell to settle finance before I hand it back. By the way dunno where the parkers valuation has come from as they don't put value's on the limited editions !! They say standard turbo plus about 15% which definateley is not £20,000 plus!!!!!!

PS if i'm shooting myself in the foot why am I not having my hand bitten of at this price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Group Captain is exactly what I am saying!!! When I was offered the £14,00 by a dealer he said I could probably get about £17,000 for it as a private sale, the reason i'm selling at just below £16,000 was for a supposed quick sale so I wouldn't have to give it back to the finance company , who will auction it , then it will no doubt appear somewhere down south with about 20,000 less miles on the clock!!!!!!!!
