I dont believe you lot someone new is sorting things out at sidc and you seem to complain about to much mail

If i remeber rightly people where complaing about sidc leaving it to the last minute so someone decides to give you plenty of notice of things going on and thats wrong

IMHO if you dont like whats goin on do something about EG offer to do it yourself or dont renew your membership simple as that
at least someone at sidc has got ther eact together and doing something for its members ok most of it is in scotland which at much use to us down south but hey beggars cant be choosers so if you awant something to do down here why dont you make some enquiries yourself then pass it on to sidc

IMHO i really dont know if i will renew my membership purly because i dont feel i am getting good value for money however we will see

I think you might have made the point there - nothing all year, then renewal time and 'look, don't we do a lot for you!'. Well, lots just coming up to renewal, anyway

1. Membership - Its a personal thing I think its good value so I Pay it if you don't then save your money

2. Email - The commitee especially Lisa was flamed for not informing people of club activities by email now that is happening she's flamed or being accused of its membership time better send them something - Sorry thats total crap

If you don't want email notification send Lisa@SIDC.co.uk an email you will be removed without delay

Ok I got the scottish event email. I deleted it [god that was hard work] together with another 50+ offerring me Viagra,Golf *****,Loans etc etc

The AGM is soon to be announced why don't people come along and put there point of view

Totally agree with Phil

Don't all be complaining - look at the track events - take one of the e mails about trax 2002 - we need 30 cars?? for a session, out of a club of 15000 members?? - 2 were arranged, then rearranged to 1, now that looks doubtful because 30 cars cannot be definately booked.Track events may not be everyones thing, but regional organisers are approachable you know to sort out different events!

I know its been said before but its our club, everyone on the comittee works at it for free (I think ) so why don't we all just sit on our ***** and expect a 50 page glossy magazine full of all the stuff we want to drop through our letterbox every 2 months, do sod all to support it, cancel our membership , then moan when its not what we want.

Yeah right!

 

I didn't interpret the initial post as a complaint, more as a question.

Personally, I welcome emails informing me of an SIDC events, although sadly there don't appear to have been as many this year.

I wish they sent me one now and again.

just a small point but the SIDC has approx 2700 members [not the 15000 scoobynet has ] and True Grip is quarterly but thanks for agreeing with my sentiments

But still - that equates to about 1% of the club taking an interest in track events (check the maths there Phil )

 

dont confuse Trax with a track day. How many cars did the SIDC dono track day? Thats more representative.

If anyone in the East Midlands wants to do something SIDC ish, look in true grip, get me number, and call me.

As a regional organiser, here are my mere observations

1) Scoobynetters are a different animal to SIDC folk. I know that there are plenty of dual memberships out there but consider this, how many standard scoobs do you see on the road? Don't they look strange? Yes they do to scoobynetters because we like to make statements with our cars and as such there are probably very few un-modded scoobynet cars. Now consider that those unmodded cars belong to people who really can't be bothered with all the modding stuff and the waving and the like, maybe they want to go on the odd track day and that's it! Maybe the thought of standing in a pub car park surrounded by other "like minded individuals" really gets up thier noses,then the SIDC is IDEAL. Qtrly contact via magazine, notification of the next track day near them, Annual bash laid on for them and a few other "NON HARDCORE" items that makes them feel that the membership fee is all worth it.

2)The SIDC is far more low key than scoobynet! Check out the SIDC BBS as a real live example. Hundreds of hits per thread but very few posts.

3) In my two years as a regional organiser, I have been contacted by total strangers regarding how to join SIDC, etc a total of ..wait for it.......5 times. None of them knew about the web site and get this, all of them asked if SIDC had anything to do with Scoobynet!! (never heard from them again)

4) I personally would rather organise an event through Scoobynet than through SIDC because it's quicker and more throw together (Just like me ) Also i know it works (The Big One ) I posted the big one on the SIDC Forum and got one yes one response from a SIDC member who was not on scoobynet. He wanted to know if his sport would look out of place and could he bring a dog
Also i think that had it have been an SIDC "THING" half of you would have complained about something.

5) I continue to be a regional organiser, not because I love it and can't get enough of Scoobs, I do it just incase someone needs something organising which will enhance thier ownership experience. I certainly don't do it to be told that nothing ever happens and to read that the club is providing a poor service.

6) Every year there is an issue regarding an SIDC event, this year Trax, last year some bl00dy bbq, year before.blah blah blah. Indeed, didn't SIDC get slated for something at Donno? Sure they did about something, next year it'll be the Isle of man trip, you take ya pick.

7) How much organising do you think 2700 people take? Is it like bang out a e-mail, collect a few fees, whack out a magazine every few months. You ALL know that that is not the case! Are track days just a quick phone call "Room for 30 cars on sunday mate?" Nope. Putting the magazine together, a random collection of car photographs and a few adds whipped up and made glossy.Nope. The shop, Piece of pi55 to administer over the net. Nope. Carry on running your business, have a life of your own, do your own normal day job, easy ain't it. Nope.

8) The SIDC is there to be enjoyed, let's give it a chance and stop pointing fingers etc. Sometimes i read threads and you would have thought that someone had spent £500 on the membership fee not £25 (Remember the ruck because membership went up FIVE pounds? what was THAT fuss all about?)

9) If you think that you can make a difference, then get involved, I think that there are 20 regional organisers, A chairman, A treasurer, A secretary, An Events co-ordinator, track day co-ordinator and...........and......er............er.........we ll there's the.......... well surely 25 people can co-ordinate 2,700 spread all over the country with different views, requirements and ideas. Must be a piece of pi55 that!

I get True Grip to my door and the odd e-mail, no details have changed but I'll email Lisa anyway, just saying I haven't had any of the recent stuff that every one is talking about.

If I hadn't read this post I wouldn't have known about the other stuff.

Have never complained about the SIDC, and wasn't in my earlier post (Note: smilies were sad ones not mad ones), as I never complain about someone doing something for free that I myself woudn't do.
I'm no longer a scooby owner but renewed my membership as I still attend loads of meets and functions.

Yeah, I didn't read the first post as a complaint either. And at least two of the E-Mails were designed to save members money....."renew now or pay the Chancellor 17.5% for 'owt"... so good on yer SIDC!! And one was an appeal to submit articles for True Grit..... I have every sympathy with an editor faced with mass apathy.

So it was good to see SIDC management being defended on the Board
