One of our imprezas an MY 99 has started to develop horrendous wind noise from the front passenger door when driving above 50mph. It appears that the door seal has failed or has deteriorated has anyone experienced similar problems?
Thanks
Geoff

Thumbs down

Geoff,

Yes I've had problem after problem with my drivers window sealing. Had the car 6 months and had a new rubber already, and fixed by dealers every couple of weeks.

When the window is up, let it down slightly (few mil) then up again, do this a few times and evntually the wind noise will stop. It's almost like something works loose and the window doesn't fit squarely (is that a word) anymore.

"They all do that",

Cheers hope this helps, Phill C

Try some silicon lubricant as thats what cured mine - the rubber was just bunching up.

I use Mr Sheen, and close the windows with the doors open, when appropriate.

Cool

Guaranteed fix on mine:-

Lower passanger window about an inch, lean accross and open door carefully with left hand. When door opened sufficiently for window to clear rubber, operate window switch with right hand. Steering carefully with knees and desperately trying to see over dashboard . When window clatters up (they all do that too )to fully closed position attempt to close door. This usually takes about two attempts due to prostrate position you will now find yourself in

Once closed return to normal seating position and pray you havent run up someone's ar$e whilst carrying out the manoever :

Hey presto, wind noise gone

Alternatively do this whilst the car is stationary. Much safer

I had the rubber on my passenger side and around the rear window replaced under warranty on my my99 due to the rubber perishing.
