Hi all,

I have seen some people quoting very accurate figures of the cost of running their cars.

Is there a spread sheet or some thing similar available that I can get hold of.

I did quiet a lot of reading recently when deciding whether or not to opt out of a company car scheme. There are a lot of web site which contain good info on pence per mile figures

thought the ppm figures were a little low on that site. I can't find what is included as a running cost.

Try the AA who do a leaflet for annual mileages and engine sizes. It seems to be a bit more like it and holds true with the figures I am getting (55 ppm for about 20,000 miles per year).
You can do your own spreadsheet with running and standing charge costs, based on the AA breakdown (no pun intended) of costs and update it when you feel like.

Its the spread sheet thing that you put all your running costs on to that i'm after.

Would try and do it my self but i'm cr@p at that sort of thing.

If you want depreciation-proof, get a convertible. Difference between new price of a Saab I used to own and a convertible equivalent was about 2 grand, difference when it came to selling it was nearer 8.

P1 is old model (suffer depreciation hit on launch of new model)

Buy a car guide that lists models and look at how depreciation varies across the range. Makes interesting reading (if your having problems sleeping ). Sometimes (for example) there can be 5-10% difference in depreciation rate between two very similar models (like 1.4 vs 1.6)
its down to a number of factors, including servicing, insurance............

Hmmm...'cos I am thinking (now only a a little bit ) about one of the last few unregistered P1's and the dealer is still wanting full list price. I tried telling him about the 'old model' pricing syndrome and he didn't sway at all
