I didn't know the Airfix kit existed, so that may be an option as a pressy..
...but these are too big (at 1:43 scale) for a cake (and the £23 one in a presentation case is a tad expensive
)
Anyone else know of a 1:100 (or thereabouts) model?

I just bought a couple from a Hong Kong Website. They are about 2" long radio controlled cars, less than £20 a pop. You can stick it on the cake and then double it up as a prezzie for the birthday person. Let me know and I'll dig out the web site.
