Having had my UK MY99 for 6 months now, I've got the bug to make it go just a bit quicker. Having read the various threads from John Banks, I believe that I will eventually go down the route of installing a hybrid TD04L MD297 from Turbo Dynamics, however, I would like to know if I would run into trouble running this with the std ecu for the time / distance it would take to get to say PE for a tek 3 re map?

Thank you

Justin

It will be OK for this - just don't expect to have decent boost control for the journey there (will be very slow to spool, I imagine)

You don't mention what other mods you've done? I'd suggest freeing up the breathing in and out of the engine before changing the turbo (if you haven't already).

Thank you, existing breathing mods will include downpipe and backbox (keep centre for emissions)- induction mods scare me rather as I fear for MAF related problems but possibly a K&N Cone filter. ????

Justin,

I've just finished testing *cough* playing */cough* with a Tek3 from John.

I've a MY99 RB5 with TSL DP, Centre, STI backbox and an ITG filter. The Tek3 was fantastic, but when I mentioned wanting some more John did recommend changing the Turbo.

He said the car would run fine with the std TMIC and the mods I already have on the car.

John's since move to an even bigger turbo, TMIC and Manifold so I'll gaurantee your mods would stop there
