Thumbs up

10 weeks later and £1600 lighter I can finally say that I have the scooby I thought I was buying in the first place - all thanks to the PPP.

Heaven knows what the power output (guessing at around 240ish on Optimax) is now but it feels like a sports car rather than a Sunday runabout. Pulls like a train.... just need to sort out the stoppers now!!!

Anyone considering the PPP - Go for it - warranty is intact and the grin just keeps getting bigger!

Question

What do you get for £1600?
How does it affect your insurance?

The MY01 PPP is 1600 but the the previous PPP were closer to 2K. Although some dealers maybe be able to do it cheaper fro pre MY01 cars. The MY01 is on an exchange basis for the ECU ie they alter the map of a standard ECU and keep yours, where as the the pre MY01 PPP was a new ECU and you got you standard ECU back. Teh other bits are samco hoses, centre decat section and replacement back box.

Insurnace, yep it will go up and may jump you one maybe two groups from 17 to 18 (maybe 19) depending on your insurnace company

cheers

Chrisp

did you consider the scoobysport exhaust at all before going for the ppp? cause they reckon the exhaust gives about 40 bhp and its a cheaper option aswell . they said that some people have had both and that puts you at about 260 bhp

40hp from just a 'zorst change? No way.....4hp sure, maybe even 14hp is possible but not 40hp surely!

The Prodrive zorst supplied with the kit is very nice... not too 'in yer face'.

Hopefully picking my MY01 PPP up on saturday. Dealer states that it's 245BHP.

The full scoobysport exhaust system, back box, centre section and down pipe (ie, all cats removed) I've been told should add 25-30 BHP.

A standard car is £218 BHP I think so this would take you to a similar mark as the PPP, and would also sound a lot better

I had the full system on my MY96 and it was fantastic, couldn't recommend it highly enough. Would like to do something similar to my MY01, although concerned that it will affect the warranty? Anyone know the score on this?

Chris...
going the PPP route on your MY01 will keep warranty intact as its an approved Subaru part(s).

The ScoobySport route, because its is not a Subaru part, would likely invalidate any warranty cover you might have on your 'zorst or connected parts. Much of this debate falls largely into the hands of your dealer. If you have a nice dealer, they can sometimes overlook certain modifications - other less accomadating types dont.

Still not convinced by such a large BHP gain through just 'zorst swap... I know the MY01 is strangled by the three Cats but even 25BHP is a very big increase for such a simple mod. Anyone got any figures to substatiate this claim?

Curious....

Pete Croney quotes 250ish bhp for a decat exhaust - think there's a dyno on the dynomite scoobies section?

Cool

Id love to go for the PPP, but already have a back box. I guess I could sell the prodrive one that comes with it - the ideal would be to buy the ppp without the backbox - anyone done this???

Andy,
I have the same dilema as you as i already have a TSL back box and i have enquired to Listers about buying the PPP with out the back box but they say they can't split them. Only thing to do is sell it on here instead i guess.

Makalu

I have seen several 01's with full decat get 245-250 bhp.

Look here

My own 01 with PPP and decat is 270 + bhp.

With fine tunig on an over fuelling problem it will top 280

Nathan..
