I'm about to aquire a 12 month old GT Tdi 130 golf to keep some miles off the scoob (mileage is getting silly).
anyone got any thoughts?

would have preferred a 150 but this one cam along at right money.

Good idea, but be prepared for the baggy handling and lifeless steering. Allegedly

Can't think of a better way of keeping the miles off the Scoob and using it as a play thing for weekends. After driving the Golf all week you'll appreciate it even more

I bought a £90 18 year old ford fiesta with a 950cc engine to keep the miles of the scoob and to keep it spotless.

Quite Interesting driving two totally different cars. Driving the fiesta is quite a laugh. Got 80 out of it today thought I was going to disintegrate.

I realy rate VAG Tdi engines, having had golfs and Audis as workhorses, so I think a good choice of second car.

anyone know anything about the performance upgrades?
don't want to destroy economy, mainly after increasing torque

 

We've got the 110 TDi - soggy handling is spot on. They sorted this on the 150 though, they fitted the sports pack suspension as standard. Look out for the 'slow down shudder', I know the 90's and 110's suffer (ours does, it's annoying, feels like slightly warped discs) not sure about the 130. Head on over to the forum on TDICLUB.COM for more advice. Plus side is the power and economy and comfort - after my STi with full de-cat you need something quiet !!
