I hate these theiving scum but ive a mate who lives around that area whos had 2 attempted thefts of his scoob
The only thng i can say is get as many visible deterrants as you can, ie disklok etc to put them off or get some more security fitted to your car.
It sounds like the alarm system you have isnt too brilliant but if you want the name of a good alarm fitter in that area give me an email and ill send you his name and number (hes both static and mobile so can come to you or you go to him cos hes not that far from you )

Tony

Hello All

Someone tried to nick my Scooby last night.
Came to go to work this morning and found my bonnet was up.
They had disconnected the battery with a 10mm spanner definitely and snapped off my ariel and made a hook out of it.
None of my doors were open or windows broken. Maybe they had been disturbed. My car was parked on the driveway with my girlfriends car behind it.
Cheeky T*W*A*T*S
I live in the Manchester/Mossley area.

Cheers

Gary.

Thumbs up

A big dog is a good deterrent, I always find they run off slower with a major limb missing...

Lads

My car is a 1997 Impreza Turbo Cataluya and fitted with a cobra factory fitted alarm I think or dealer fitted.
Don't know how they got the bonnet up. No damage done to anything apart from the broken ariel which was made into a hook. Don't know what they would have use this for.
Also I have a Steering wheel disklok and an additional immobiliser key fitted as well.
I am just happy it was still there this morning at 7am for my 100 mile trip to work. Just worried now that they may come back.

Tony .. What colour is your mates Impreza ?? I've been living in Mossley for 12 months now after moving in with my missus. They are some Scumbags in Mossley which I would love to get my hands on.

Thanks for your concern guys.

Gary.

Its a silver MY00 with a personalised plate (his mate also has a wr blue MY01).
I'll give you the number of the installer who fitted my alarm, hes very good and only a few miles away from you (it sounds like your security needs upgrading )

Lads,

Anyone know how much a new arial will cost ??
Is it difficult to fit ?? Hope it's not a Dashboard trim removal job ??

Cheers

Hi Gaz,

Long time no speak mate.

Sorry to hear about the attempted theft m8
I know how you must feel, my bro-in-law had the same thing about 20 months ago, when he was staying at my house. Gotten woken in the early hours to find his bonnet up.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to open the bonnet from outside.
Mail me to find out, and for a few security sugestions, that we've had to put in place since.
Other than this, how's the Cat?

Cube.

Isnt your bonnet wired up to your alarm ??
I thought all cat 1 alarms would have had this simple feature ??

They should be, but it's defeatable if not fitted right, and like most break-ins, these barstewards use techniques that just wouldn't occur to the everyday person.

Hi Cube

Cat is going fine. Bought a SS back box for it recently and also awaiting an ITG panel filter from Pete at SS.
Had a more detailed look at my car yesterday afternoon. They have dug a big hole in my Subuaru front grill to open the bonnet.
Also cut the bonnet switch wires. My neighbours heard the alarm go off 3 times but I never did or my missus.
Bonnet switch won't closed propertly now unless you push it in hard !!

How is your Cat these days ?

Regards

Gary.

Exclamation

Time for someone to do a small run of metal blanking plates to go behind grills to stop this happening. Simple & effective anti-theft measure.

Anyone out there do this?

Same as used to be done on the old minis.

U need to get a clifford alarm with eater sense and tell or a proximerty sensor , that wat as soon as thay *** close to the car it will deliver a warning to them (and u if youre in !) . Other makes have them but i feel the clifford is the best ! + some companys that fit them will offer a guarenty that u car wont b stolen !!

Unhappy

There is no guarantee that your car will not be stolen, even if you have the best security available to you, your car can still be lifted etc even with proximity/motion alarms fitted.
Professional theives take pride in stealing your pride and joy but the worst ones are the joyriders who will damage your car to get into it and if they cant start it, will just wreck it because they can
Jonny, Clifford offer a 500 quid cash back if the car is stolen fitted with a clifford alarm, not a guarantee that the car will never be nicked

Fu**ing mother fu**ers!

Get a CCTV camera and a motion detector that triggers an alarm system that only rings next to your bed, a bit like an alarm clock. When it goes off, go down with your shotgun (if you havent got one, I have one for sale for 150) and ask them for an explanation

Hi Gazza,

My Cat's still going strong m8, tho it's had 1 or 2 mods more than I ever intended done to it

About the alarm, I had a paging unit fitted that'll wake me if it ever goes off, coz like yourself, my bro-in-laws was sounding for a fair few minutes before we were woken.

Thanks for all the comments lads.
Just re-read my last reply. Can't believe I spelt the subaru wrong.

I will definitely consider a pager now or something or some kind of backing plate.

cheers

Gary.
