Default 5th ok but Reverse no go on Ty752

Hi All, I have a V3 STi gearbox which works fine 1>5 but just won't go into reverse. I searched the net and found a cause could be the lever which moves the reverse idler into position. Yesterday I removed the box and find that with the end off I can pull and push into 5th and reverse and can hear the reverse lever move. The reverse detent mech. is out and still no reverse so I removed the small spring and ball bearing on the side to find it moves into reverse. Before I split the box I wonder if there is something I have overlooked or is this a common issue and I need to split the box and replace the pull push shaft.

Very simple fix? Do you mean I'll need to split the box anyway and fit a new selector shaft if available. Have you done this previously.

Built and rebuilt many a box for many people. Do you not remember our agreement that cost me £400. Karma's a terrible thing as said a simple fix
