Default Engine seized due to low oil, now has knocking sound. Need info regarding rebuild.

Hi all,

Mew member here, keeping it brief. Won’t bore with the details but just bought ‘03 blobeye impreza and long story short, oil starvation (that I didn’t realise at the time), car cuts out, tow home, knocking sound.

I’m currently looking for advice on engine rebuilds - I live in South London (near Croydon), and have never undergone going about a rebuild before. Just wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations for companies relatively nearby (or further away that can do pickup/delivery, and any cost estimates? (I know to expect a couple thousand).

I’ve spent the weekend googling and looking around, but won’t be able to call potential places until Monday, so I thought in the meantime I would come here for advice on how to go about this, as well as what I should look out for, how this all works, etc.

Thanks very much in advance for anyone who replies!

Forged 2.1 will cost 8k from almost all builders but they do not really share whats inside, rcm, enginetuner, etc.
Andy Wiliams seems cheaper but depends what You need. Think it's 4.5k plus valves 500, springs and retainers 600, 14mm studs thats another 600+, 12/14mm studs should be cheaper.Above using his rods good for 500hp.
