Just fitted a new clutch to my 6 speed DCCD - pull type clutch. It's a DK 6 paddle clutch but replacing a worn out 4 paddle so expected it to work without too much hassle.

Got everything back together and the release bearing has popped into place (i think), clutch fork is definitely located in the bearing nicely, and fork is definitely fine and not broken, but won't go into any gear with engine running.

Clutch pedal operates, but the clutch fork looks like it's sitting too far forward towards the engine - the pin on the hydraulics is working fine and throw the lever but looks like it's not throwing it far enough forward to actually engage the clutch properly.

I had an assistant operating the clutch pedal, and can see that the release bearing is pulling away from the clutch and can just see that the clutch splines are contracting but seems not far enough to engage the clutch :-(

Any ideas please ? it came with a new release bearing but is it a shot release bearing perhaps ???

I've not tried to bleed the clutch or adjusting the clutch pedal - should this be needed with new clutch ? any suggestions appreciated !

 

WIll be pulling the engine to have a look at this tomorrow - looking through various other threads i think i should have taken more care when torqueing down the pressure plate bolts - and will check everything once she's opened up again.

 

Just to update on this - the frame of the pp was cracked so went back to supplier.

Ended up buying the exedy stage 2 clutch kit instead which works like a dream - I wonder if I should have done that in the first place
