Hi all, looking for a bit of advice if possible. I'm looking to fit a knocklink but extend the knocklink LEDs into my gauge pod to hide the ugly box making the LED location subtle and closer to my line of vision when driving. I was sure I read a thread years ago on Scoobynet that covered how to extend the knocklink LED and plumb them into a center pod and bits required to do this, but can't seem to dig anything up showing how to do this? Has anyone done this to their Scoob pod, and if so what Maplin bit and bobs were needed?

Not difficult but fiddly. You need some multicore cable, such as telephone cable, one corew for each LED plus a return.

Once you get the KL box open, you'll see the LEDs, each one needs un-soldering, and a separate wire to each from the FEED on the KL, with the return via a common wire. You'll see which this is.
Do make sure you observe LED polarity...the lead on the LED attached to feed must remain attached to feed, not transposed, or you might be looking for new LEDs. I've done this with both my KL and my LL.

Mine are grouped around the fuel pressure gauge high up on the A pillar, so nicely at eye level. Those and the FP gauge linked to the boost gauge have saved the car at least once.

That's a pain that the uklegacy.com guides doesn't have any photos anymore as it looked to be a good detailed guide and I would have liked to see how he used the floppy drive cable for doing this. I also had a look on the P1woc site and found a good guide, even stating part numbers for required parts from Maplins. I think this may have been the guide I thought I had read on SN.

I've opened up my KL and had a look at what needs doing and now know how to tackle this job. Still waiting for my center pod to arrive and I'll need to buy a soldering iron etc so expect to get into this little project in a week or two. All going well I may even put up an idiots guide to doing this as a lot of the old guides have dead links, or obsolete website or missing pictures (as used Photobucket)

Will holler back if I run into any bother once I get going on this.
