For me it also very interesting, why the last owner kept the car for only one year and has driven it simply 2.000 miles.

Also I believe February 06 registered means that you'll pay the lower tax

From april isn,t the car tax changing, so we will be all be paying £140.00 a year.
I would personally go for a 2.0l rather than the 2.5l. but thats just me being paranoid about what has been said of the engines reliability over the years.

At first I would like to thank you for the fast replies regarding my started thread. Some years ago I had a MY03 STI Type UK and I am well informed, that the EJ257 hadn't become the best pistons while his whole production period. It isn't the safest route to go with an Impreza.
I would agree that the EJ207 is a much stronger engine but I don't want a preface blobeye and much facelift blobeyes are very abused. Some days ago there was an awesome aspen white one listed at Pistonheads located in Scotland but that doesn't happen very often.
I like the front-end of the hawkeye, too and I guess the chassis isn't the baddest choice. Without taking any attention on JDM cars. Yes, I am a little bit afraid of buying one with a EJ257 under the bonnet but there are also a lot of cars which running good without any problems.
The moment will come when the engine needs a rebuild but I guess that can also happen with a high mileage blobeye with it's EJ207.
Regarding the taxes here in Germany we don't have any big problems with all New Age STIs which got registered till 09/2009. For the hawkeye and hatchback we have to pay £ 142.00 and for the blobeye and bugeye only £ 114.00.

Don't get me wrong I was not trying to put you off the hawk, I own a SpecD myself unfortunately I am one of the 'unlucky' owners that have experienced H/G failure twice! When I bought the car I was fully aware of the issues and now my engine is being forged as I type 
I've owned two 2ltr wrx's but I love the 2.5 as a daily drive, hopefully the rebuild will finally cure the problems.

What’s to say about the GV model range? Are these cars still heavily effected by the famous piston ringland?
Does Subaru learned anything and used stronger head studs and better head gaskets?
I am a little bit afraid of a non-forged EJ257 powered STI but there are still some really mint conditioned cars and I am guessing about to buy one.

The mileage isn’t that high and and a forged engine with well internals is already under the bonnet:

For the next two years it isn‘t planned to rise the horsepower but in the future maybe I am thinking about a SC42 turbo and a maximum of 400-420 hp.
Is a forged EJ257 bulletproof for a daily driver that will be moved for 8500-9000 miles per year? I am not interested in any racetrack purposes.
I was also thinking about a blobeye again, but the low mileage WR1s are based on the old chassis and late low mileage MY04 oder MY05 aren’t really available.
Maybe for you information because I am not thinking about any JDM car, all cars that got registered after 2005 couldn’t be registered legal in Germany, sadly.

For me it isn't a major problem to give my car away for one month. I know how long a rebuild will due, in the past I already rebuild a Nissan CA18DET engine with a little help. This reason isn't a big problem for me, I am just afraid of the reliability of a rebuild EJ257. Will it last for 100.000 miles or will it need a rebuild again after some thousands miles? I don't want to spend a big amount of money every two years.

Done well they will last even pushed to mid 400's
I don't think you would have any problems with a properly forged EJ257. I'm having one built at the moment and don't expect to be taking it back out again any time soon all going well. All of the weak points in the standard engine will be taken care of. Hawks look better too and that's coming from someone that had a late 05 WT Blobeye.
