V1/2 UK 2000 TD05?
Hi all, according to what I can work out on here, all UK turbo 2000's came with a TD04, is this right, or do the early v1/2's come with a TD05?
The reason I ask is I have, what I though, a stock UK 2000. But when it came to replacing the turbo, I noticed I had a TD05?

Thanks for that Scooby Kid. So I take it, as it's an early model, it could very well be stock still? Also, thanks to Ash, even though there isn't a single TD05 listed anywhere, so I assume that info is more for the US market?
Now to my next question. If I have a TD05 and Z4 ECU, do I get the 260bhp? If it's not the Z4, can I just pop one in?

"Finally the Mitsubishi TD05 as fitted to most pre 97 UK, Euro and WRX saloons. "
but as above - yours has been added after

Thanks for that, but I'm running the 7D ECU which is stock with the TD05... right?
Can I just source a Z4 and plug it in as is to get more boost?
Thanks for this, I know it may have been asked before, but finding the right thread for me has been a nightmare! :P

One option and I found this was a huge advantage for me was the esl board. Is a fair outlay initially but with the lead and software allows you to map your ecu yourself. And if you don't know how (like I didnt) the course esl put on is a huge advantage. The board eel provide comes with Iirc the sti v4 map on so instant increase in power but will need tweaking to suit your engine obviously. Have been logging mine slowly and making tiny changes, not yet had it on dyne but by the seat of my pants test it's pulling a lot quicker and harder.
That's some great info, and yeah, was looking at ESL myself and may have to invest in one, even though I'm on a budget, it's still the cheapest option when it comes to mapping.
Oh, and love the scoob, it's exactly the same as mine, but maybe better condition, lol. Oh, and I have done the facelift mods on mine as I prefer the shape of the bonnet!

Get in touch with Andy from esl he is very happy to give advice but I would recommend esl as it's nice to log and map for what you want and not pay silly money for mappers to do (and I don't mean how this might sound) a quick job. Given the choice I'm sure they would love to sit in a car and map for days and weeks but realistically they can't and so put a better map as requested but can't due to time nd costs map everything perfectly.
Hahaha, isn't that a swear work... RUST! lol! I had the fun job of replacing tons of stuff due to rust, everything from fuel filler neck to ALL brake pipes and hoses!
I may just do that, but it's not likely to happen before Christmas now anyway!

Wow at your arches, such a mess... my car is much better condition overall. However, my filler neck wins, don't have pics, but mine was in three parts held together with chicken wire an putty, lmao!
I'll post some completed pics by end of next week when she's all finished
That's rough, and really? Who ever MOT'd that puppy needs sacking. I'm down in Cornwall, so I do think they suffer more down this end of the country.
I have to ask... what colour are you going, or keeping it the 64C mica green? I would keep the same colour imo. Not many of them left now, and cleaned up, they look amazing and very unique. Especially with gold wheels, as we all know, everything in life is green and gold!

Yeh I imagine the sea water don't help mate.
Keeping it 64c mica green, was tempted but thought I'd rather keep it original and be worth more if I ever get rid of it lol. I've got gun metal grey (anthracite) on atm but thinking of changing them just unsure yet.

There were no Version cars in the UK market, all classic UK cars are Turbo 2000's and defined by their Model Year, for example MY97.
@Evan good choice
@Micky... you're right, but I was going by what information I could get from here. As for there being no "version" cars in the UK market, you may be right there too, but if I said I have a MY96 impreza, everyone would have said I have you have a TD04, and that would have been wrong. By me adding the engine version, clears it up as clearly '96 was a crossover year.

Hmmm, but is it safe? I just want more power and I only ever put vPower in my car. It's so hard to justify £400 (ESL) and £800+(SA) on an ECU and map on a car that is only worth around £500, maybe £700 if it's sunny :P
The other problem with running a Z4 ecu over a 7D or vice versa is , the check engine light comes on.
Reason, the 7D ecu looks for a purge valve from the carbon cannister, the Z4 doesnt as wrx`s dont have the purge valve.
no ill affects but the engine light will come on
i tried running a 7D ecu on my 95 wrx when optimate (back then) ran out for some weeks, it ran, but engine light was on, after lots of research, the purge valve was the culprit
cheers

Is there any guides anywhere? I have just rebuilt my engine (only the top end) and the pistons, rings and bearings seem fine.
I may just see what goes for sale on here, I might be able to get an ECU with ESL fitted for a bit cheaper, then just reset it to a safe factory settings and go from there.

MY's are funny things, that's another kettle of fish though.

There's no Version engines either.
They are in phases. Phase 1, Ph1.5, Ph2. Difference externally is the inlet manifold, although Ph1 and 1.5 manifolds share the same bolt pattern so are inter changeable to an extent.
My car makes a lot more power than you are after on a Z4 ECU.

Well there ya go... they are kinda funny getting parts for when it comes to the engine.
All turbo Subarus are faster than mine, lmao. Mine is all stock, hence wanting a little more power. All the lag with little boost is doing my head in :P
