Default Exhaust help JDM guru's advice needed.

Okay so today I was going to purchase a down pipe and a center section for my JDM blob 2005 WT.

The JDM models have a shorter down pipe and use a longer center section which is the same center as a classic.

The exhaust manufacturer said this is true however they can simply make the down pipe longer to compensate meaning I can use the same center section as a UK newage.

I have a Genome back box which I would like to keep as it looks super and has a not too bad sound from it.

Question whats the best way to do this and does it matter?

Also I was thinking to go for 2.5 bore as I'm now not sure If i would be looking to go beyond 400 bhp.

I was led to believe If I go 3" then the car would not feel quite so snappy but the down side is that the turbo will tent to run out of puff up the rev range.
Clarification on this would be good.

The Genome back box as I see it will be a 2.5 anyways so If i was to delve into the 3" route would I be right in saying the full lot would need changed to go 3" from the turbo right out the back.

I'm a tad confused and need some help making up my mind what way to do this.

Bit gutted at almost 100 form users having read this thread an no reply's.

Back when I owned my last Subaru in 2005 this forum was jumping, seems the community has dwindled massively

i would personally stay with the 2.5 and i would keep the sizes stanadard , i've bought a car that's had its exhaust changed and wider bore , don't know if it's the map but like
car pulls better , i also want to change the mid section as it has a silencer i don't want but it's not just a case of a new mid section it's a case of cutting the silencer out , but if you are happy with exhaust builder it's your choice on what you wish to do

I thought it was that all newage not just JDM had the shorter dp and all GC8 had the longer dp?

only specifically applies to Euro spec cars............although later (hawk i think) JDM cars moved to the more standardised centre specs

you'll have no real issue with std sized bore as ultimately the Genome box will be the biggest restriction

the short or long i've beard can vary , it depends on which back box was fitted , and what the factory chose to fit , i was looking for a newage one for an impreza ordered based on standard size it was the wrong one

nothing at all to do with th back box as they are all basically the same fitment and dimensions..........

from approx Hawk onwards the JDM cars standardised with the Euro spec centre but prior to this used the set-up more in keeping with the classics

I thought this was a decent back box and fairly sought after, are the Genome back box restrictive ?

in terms of the set-up your talking about thats the ultimate restriction, most aftermarket b/boxes are freer flowing but thats not to say it wont do what you require
