Question

Hi,

I have a MY00 with a TEK2 remap
I am planning to change the exhaust system as currently I have the standard one - probably an SS DP now and Magnex res'd Centre and BB fairly soon.

Looking on the SS website I saw the following re Up pipes:

''This improvement in manifold efficiency has the added bonus of reducing in cylinder temperatures and exhaust gas temperatures. Because of this, we strongly recommend the use of the Scoobysport up pipe if the vehicle is fitted with an up rated ECU.''

I'm not really very clued up on these ... can people give me advice / reasons to consider this upgrade along with the rest of the exhaust please?

Cheers to all in advance.

Steve

On the MY01 certainly. The MY00 item is horrible but at least it doesn't have a cat.

Don't think there is a good enough reason for it on MY00.... as per John's Cat comment There can't be a great increase in BHP or Lb/ft can there??

I'm guessing and you can probably confirm if the addtional cost is quite a bit????

Thanks John,

Are you saying that at the level of mods I am looking at, it's not worth the aggro/money then?

Steve

Scoobysnack,

125.00 +VAT I think from SS ...

I think the temperature issue was what made me consider it as opposed to performance gains ...

So £147 + fitting, say £200 then..................

Well if Temperature is the only issue, why not lag everything on the downpipe....... I guess this is refering to hot gases moving quicker and more efficient exspelling of them.

Hope it goes well Steve

J,

I think you're right ... I could spend £200.00 on many other things.

Thanks for the comeback

It is labour for the uppipe - do it and do a turbo and manifold at the same time when you go mad and/or win the lottery

Two points.
1)The STi7 JDM does not have a cat in it either but replacing it with the SS item does cause boost spikes hence it must be having a positive effect(once mapped for it)
2)Scoobysport quote 4 hrs labour so not cheap.
