I have finally gained a promotion which means I know I will finish my medical training and become a consultant. So now I want to spoil myself and spend lots of cash to celebrate.
My question adressed to the ECU king J. Banks is this.
I don't want to change the air-filter or exhaust and was wondering what you would recomend Tek 1 or 2.
I have a standard MY00 with the crap 802 ECU. I would be interested in good performance gains but not in a hugely increased fuel bill. Is it pointless to go for Tek 2 if you have not modded breathing - what are your views.
(The reason I don't want to mod anything else is so I can sell it as standard at a later date.)

Congrats - I qualify as a GP next month.

I would suggest the Tek 2 - the Tek 1 is a smaller performance upgrade.

Brendy,

It's a slippery slope you're stepping out onto - you *will* want to mod it further later John is a very good case in point, lol!

I'll let JB comment on tek2 type suitability - having run one on a modded car I'd suggest it will be OK with OE induction/exhaust, but you just wont get the same gains....

Richard

I am resisting trying to do much more... really trying The fact there there is no reasonably priced streetable uprated gearbox puts me off going too silly.

John,

On TEK2 or perhaps a TEK3 which would be similar to a TEK2 but slightly higher mid range boost and slightly higher boost at the top end would you recommend an upgraded fuel pump?

Thanks
Neil

Tek 3 is a bit more than just a bit of extra boost, but no I wouldn't bother with a fuel pump unless you change the turbo. A boost gauge, AFR, uprated intercooler hose and spark plugs are always nice on any modded car.

Sorry John, was just using that as an example, rather than saying thats all a TEK3 does Bad use of English I'm afraid reading it back, didn't word it very well did I!!!
As for the other bits - 2 out of 4 ain't bad (hose - shortly, and boost gauge)

Thanks!

Brendy,

I have a standardly exhausted 802 ECU'd car (MY00 Wagon) - I put the TEK1 on, added a Dawes - great I thought ... Then had a further chat with ECUTEK ... popped to see them in Uxbridge and ended up with the TEK2. The only other mod is a replaced air filter with an ITG panel filter. I had the car dyno'd that day and saw the results on the DELTA DASH software, which confirmed that at that point in time, all was OK with fuelling, etc. The results were;

264 BHP
253lbft Torque - Dyno graphs available if you would care to mail me offline

Quite a change!

The comment about wanting to continue changes earlier in the thread is very true! I am attacking the exhaust soon, funds permitting!

Steve

John Banks

What would you recomend to cure an irritatingly itchy backside? Do you do Tek 1 in a cream? It seams to cure everything else
