Yesterday, I ordered my first scooby...

They said it will be in by the end of the month, but since I'm in Portugal, this translates into End of June.

These are gonna be the longest months of my life, and therefore I need your advice.

What do I do while waiting ? Of course, I've just registered in the BBs, therefore I have a lot of reading to do, but I still need something to keep me busy.

Now, some of the things you're gonna propose are already out of the question like:

1. Get drunk until it arrives (I stopped drinking a couple of years ago:-) )

2. Drool over every picture of a scooby I see (I already do that, and it doesn't help)

3. Etc, Etc, Etc.

I need sound advice, otherwise, I will drive my girlfriend crazy before the end of the month.

I bought the cossie and promptly went on holiday to Cyprus for two weeks. Couldnt even drive it cos the insurance hadn't been sorted then. I kept going by putting up a little chart with post it notes on it in my room. on the top of the chart was written " days to go till Cosworth Caning day" and the the post its had 10, 9, 8, 7, etc written on them. Every morning I would take a post it off revealing the next number down. Then I just got on with enjoying me holiday as I knew it would go quicker if I did.

Great idea... Going on holidays :-) Problem is I just returned from a week of holidays in Central Europe (Luxembourg, Holland and Belgium), and today (May 1st) I'M WORKING !!! The project is late, and guess who's putting in Overtime ? Well, all's not bad. I still gonna have to pay for that scooby... Any other Ideas ?

Can't count the days, since delivery date isn't something you can count on here in Portugal. I would have to go for an average of 50... AARRGGHH !!!

Any other Ideas ?

A friend told me to rent a Scooby for the Weekend... That would help, but I can't find one here in lisbon... Damn

You could research and plan all the modifications you'll be making to your Scooby when it arrives.

 

Yes, I could try, but since I don't know much about scoobys, or mecanics, and I really DON'T like cosmetic changes (Discrete and deadky is my moddo), I won't be progressing much... And would do something stupid like order a Superchips mod to increase power (Read somewhere that they have a BAD reputation)

Yes, I will eventually upgrade my scooby (but only the engine), but I will at first enjoy it as it is...

There are a whole bunch of mods that you can do to your Scooby. Most of the ones discussed on Scoobynet are not cosmetic but functional mods - which sound like what you'd be after.

Have a browse around and you'll find plenty of threads about this sort of thing.

 

Ok, thanks... Will nose around a bit. Hope I don't find something... Would be real p****d if I got an upgrade before I get the scooby...

DAMN !!!!!!!!! Now the've got me ! They said it would be here by the end of the month, but I just got a phone call saying that BY BABY HAS ARRIVED !!!!!!!!!!!!

Now what do I do ? The loan isn't approved yet, my boss hasn't payed the overtime yet, DAMN !! Nothing's ready !

Just go to the dealer and check the car out. Then tell'em you were expecting it later' so your finance isn't ready yet. Should be no problem for them to keep the car for you. At least now you know the car is waiting for you and not you waiting for the car to arrive.

 

I was gonna suggest that you use the time to save up for the fuel!

Oh and the insurance.

and tyres.

and servicing.

and surgery to remove the smile from your face after driving.

Start buying presents for it.

I had an intercooler protector and a set of mats for mine when it arrived. Quickly followed by plastic light protectors.

Think about what you want to keep like new - may be worth a call to the Wizard of Wax....

 

Presents are a great idea, but since it arrived earlier than I thought, I'll be broke until the end of the month

 

Just to keep you updated... (I know, what do YOU CARE ? Well, it keeps me busy while waiting !!! )

They called today. The car is at the dealer, and I can go and drool all over it anytime ! (Why do I have a job in IT ?) I now have to wait for the bank's approval (which is either tomorrow, or with my luck monday). Then they have to register the car (another 2 days), and by thursday or Friday I'll be able to trash... OOps, sorry... drive it. DAMN, this is gonna be one hell of a weekend ! How the hell am I gonna get busy enough ? I didn't even sleep last night

Kids... can't live with them... Can't kill them !!!

Yesssssssssssssssssssss Picked it up last night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's defenatly the best car in the world... Ok, pretty subjective view, but still...

It's even better than what I remember from the Testdrive... Smooth, powerfull... Just Brilliant !

I Really, really feel like getting out of work, to go for a ride. How dumb could that be ? No parking place afterwards, and the weather is bad today... Well, I'll see during luch time if I can contain myself :-))
