Default Rumbling rear end

I have a rumbling/grinding noise coming from the near side rear, I've had that corner in the air as I suspected the bearing, but no obvious play, I was thinking of just changing the bearings until I priced them up.
I don't want to change them to did this isn't the issue, any ideas????

Had a similar problem with a rear wheel bearing which had no play in it but when stripped it was completely shot it.
