ECU Reset via Battery - Affect Alarm?

well - personally thats the reason I dont do battery resets cos my alarm starts going off when it loses power and it freaks the neighbours!

mines a cobra as well btw ....

Alarm should have its own back up battery but make sure you have the PIN for the Stereo handy!!

If you're nimble enough why not just use the connectors under the steering column to reset the ECU. Once you have found the connectors it is a 5 minute job. IMO it is much easier & quicker than going down the battery disconnection route.

Thanks all...

Reset the ECU via the under-dash connectors in the end. It was a quick job and not as risky as I thought it might be. Have yet to notice any real difference though... how long would one normally expect to wait until the ECU 'adjusts' itself?

Question

Hi all

I want to reset my ECU this weekend and thought disconnecting the battery for an hour would be the safest bet. If I do this, will it affect anything else like the car alarm for example (Cobra)?

Btw, the car stereo doesn't matter
