Peter,

Good to hear that they recovered it.

Did the car have a Tracker, or will you now have one installed? Just curious how the Police found the car!

Obviously it doesn't help my paranoia that I will have to go to Warrington for a few days of work!

Good news!!!

It might be worth getting the car checked out properly before signing anything to accept it back. It may well have been thrashed to an inch of it's life etc etc so it'd be a good idea to ensure it's all ok.

If you have to have one taken that's the way to go!

Obviously worth a check, but it's joyriders that nail em. If this gang went to the effort of arranging shipment they're unlikely to have deliberately damaged "their property" and so reduced it's market value.

Not even locks to replace could have been much worse & presumably the NCD is intact as the insurers have not incurred any expense.

Good to hear she's back, put the keys somewhere safe

I forgot to mention that problem! I have found the Spare keys near my house, but the keys they used to steal it aren't with the car! So I still need to change the locks and Have a brand new alarm fitted!

As pointed out, you got off very lightly if all you need is new locks & an alarm.

Even if the car was thrashed to within an inch of its life, it's unlikely to have damaged anything, these are performance cars you know!

Biggest problem will be if they switched the engine off while it was still hot. I would suggest an oil change ASAP, regardless of the condition of the car. Check the wheels too in case they clipped a kerb.

Glad there's a happy ending to one "stolen scoob" thread.

Glad to hear some good news, but not wishing to taint your good fortune, but do you REALLY want it back?

Personally I'd never want to see it again (had other cars stolen/recovered - never the same....)

Still, "I'm happy if your happy"

Hope you get everything sorted soon

Cool

Glad to hear it Pete.

My McRae's been gone for two weeks and I miss it already.

Did the insurance make you an offer?
Only managed to get £10k for mine.

Well the cars are worth 12,000 easy, but as you know the insurers try and get away with giving peanuts for these beautiful things.

If you tell the insurance that 10k just aint enough to buy another which is the same spec, they have to give you more. I reckon I would have got 11,500 but now I will never know!

The reason I want a new alarm is the Clifford Concept 600 looks cool with its remote start, and so I thought I would try get the insurers to pay for it.

If any knows anythings good/bad about these please drop me a line

Hi All,

Just to clear things up I sold mine and didn't have it stolen/written off. FSSH, cat1 alarm with pager, new brakes and tyres, recent major service etc.

It was in A1 condition with 57k miles.

Local dealer said a 96N UK Turbo in good condition would be worth £8000 trade with a Series McRae worth around £9000. His final offer was £9300 as he knew the car and its history.

Best offer after weeks of haggling at different dealers was from a Ford dealer who had an independant buyer at £10000.

Subaru dealer said that was a very good offer as he would have put it up for sale at £10750.

Cheers
Lee
