Hello. I recently got a decat downpipe fitted to my99 uk2000. ever since ive had a ticking metallic noise when the turbo starts to spool up. Is this just the wastegate? Is it normal? I read somewhere that tightening the actuator may help. Any suggestions or any more knowledge on this would be appretiated. thanks

 

Anybody got any ideas? Sounds like cards in bike spokes. It the sound builds up as the turbo spools, then goes when you lift off. Cheers

 

Dont just play with the actuator, will alter the boost and could damage the engine. Iealy need to get it to a specialist to check out, could be the turbo has gone

 

Thanks, yeah not worth playing with it. It's anoying because the turbo pulls really well and it was unnoticeable when the cat was on. I did notice that on the bottom of the down pipe there was a hole that they have plugged up with a bolt, I wonder if this could be leaking? The noise only happens when driving, won't do it when I rev. So it's quite hard to work out where it's coming from

 

That mettalic sound your hearing could be det, id be getting the fueling checked if its not been mapped for it

 

Cheers, it doesn't sound like det, defo coming from the turbo/ down pipe area. This sound happened as soon as the downpipe was fitted. I might take it back to see if there is a leak
