Would a 2.5 pass an MOT with one (sports) cat?
It looks like I still have the original cat in my down pipe and was thinking of de-catting the down pipe. Would the 2.5 (STI) pass an MOT emissions with just a single sports cat? Or is the 2.5 to dirty for a single cat?
Was looking at eeking a bit more power as an offshoot of getting rid of the original down pipe cat. But then I would be left with a sports cat..
So does anyone have just a SINGLE (pref sports) cat that passes an MOt emissions on a 2.5..
Or does it need 2 cats to pass..?
Can you get a sports cat downpipe for these?
Thanks

Just checked the cobra website and they still do them. Bit more expensive than I remember but still less than something like a milltek and my cobra has been doing fine for a few years now.

I have a Cobra Sports cat fitted on my hawkeye. Nice bit of kit and worth spending that bit more for the peace of mind of it passing an MOT no problem. The 100 cell cats can pass but need a good warming up before hand.
You can get them from Tarmac Sportz (Discount Code: COBRA2015 ) or ScoobyWorx

As Rob says the 100 cell cats need warming up first, there more free flowing than the 200 cell sports cats, but if you take it for an mot when engine is cold it will not pass. I have to take mine on a 10 miles run before mot.

Just to throw a spanner in the works here. My dads 2006 STI with PPP (sports cat) failed the MOT about a month ago at a Subaru main dealer because of the sports cat, although it passed the emissions test fine they said that the car wasn't standard anymore and due to new regulations that it needed to have 2 cats in place because that's what it would of had when it left the factory when it was new. They tired getting a complete new exhaust system out of us in order for them to pass it, so had to take it elsewhere and it passed just fine. Exhaust system on the car is an afterburner vortex cat back system.

Cheers for the info
Mine failed at main dealer also on emissions.. But they was really helpful and didn't try and sell me anything.. Suggested the readings was to high and the cat was faulty
