Default turbo upgrade

im currently running a td05 on my gc8 but I find it spools in at 3500rpm is there any turbo that would spool up earlier but also make 350bhp at peak, only looking to 330bhp at max, im also running a 5speed short ratio box

The power you're wanting is going to max most turbos in that range, you could look at a VF35 it will do 330bhp and may have a little headroom left in it. Who is mapping the car? have you spoken to them to see what they recommend?

If you're going to the clinic, they will probably recommend something from their SC range

And an ESL due to the age of the car.

I did not realise the car had been converted to an RA box.

Vf28 will give good spool and max out at 320-330bhp.

I am not so sure it is but my friend who I got the car off says it is, as he had a UK box in before and says this box the ratios are so much closer together, I can feel it when driving though that they are so close! He also said it won't do 30 in first and his UK box did, but to me that's no way to tell if it's a short ratio box

Had a vf28 on my bugeye wrx made 336bhp with supporting mods. Great spooling turbo and cheaper than a vf34/35 that achive same sort of results.

If it's a JDM box then it will feel quicker with a shorter shift.

SC36 is overkill for what the op is looking for imo.
You want the smallest possible turbo which can achieve your power goal.

The td05 turbo is far from a lag monster to be honest. Maybe look into ways of increasing the spool of what you already have.

What exhaust manifold are you using ??
Which up pipe ??
Which cooler are you using ??
Has the car been mapped and was the mapper a decent one ??
