Hello all,

I have changed front brake pads with some Textar pads. After getting them changed an hour later leaving the workshop it started squeeling really loud mainly in reverse. Before this change I bought some pagid pads from euro and it did exactly the same. So in all 2 pad changes no result.

UPDATE!!

There is good news!! I went to my mates and jacked the car up. I took the pads off copper grease the back of them and the Pistons edges and there is no squeel or squeek.

Coming back to it today. The squeel is back it seems fine when the brakes are cool but when hot they squeel loud backwards and a general squeek going forwards.

What can be the problem any idea.

Do you have shims in place behind the pads?

 

have you tried working the pistons to make sure they arent binding at all

I have no shims on them. do they make a big difference? i am really tight on money at the moment as i spent twice on the brake pads, and bloody labour. on top of that i just have owned the car for 2 weeks. So the bank is still in recovery mode


In regards to the caliper, i just changed the brakes before the change they were running fine, how would i be able to tell if the pistons are binding/sticking.

Did you see the video, is it something dangerous?

 

 

Get shims on there first (http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/) one of my shims came loose and made a nasty noise but only when reversing. I noticed mine were sticking when I drove through a puddle after a short drive and amount of steam that came off them was unreal (sticking pistons heat the discs etc) only other way is take of calipers and inspect seals and look for rust or scoring on the pistons them selves.

Yh my next plan of action is to check if the pistons are sticking. I have been doing some research in ways to check. I really hope its not a piston problem.

If it is a piston its not too expensive or hard to replace, you can either get stainless steel kits form godspeed (http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/impr...-seal-kit.html) £120 but will last a long time, or fit the alloy ones (going to rust again for about £60)

 

Ahh mate your a star. I always thought you had to replace the whole caliper. I am going to check over the weekend if it is a piston problem. Nevertheless I still do hope its not a mechanical fault. Just pads making noise.
