Hi was wondering if after spending lots of money and getn the power your after is that about it for cost or are these engines a endless money pit, always replacing parts that are being pushed to there limit or is it your fuel an service costs from now on

 

Totally depends on what level you go to.
600 plus and it's not going to be cheap unless you spend a fortune in the first place

as ditch says 450 is plenty of power for the road, a 2.5 forged build will last at that power as long as its built properly and the torque will be cracking.

 

A standard newage 2.0 litre will also easily take that.

Agreed but it's compensated by the scream to 8k+ revs (on a JDM).

 

true but no way near as good for everyday,now ive tried a forged 2.5 with a large turbo it really is a great road car and i wont be going back to a 2.0

the 2.0 sti 7-8 engine is a great unit though and uber reliable

 

If it's for road use only and you get it built with the appropriate power with some margin, then it should be reliable if built by a trusted builder.

Then budget for frequent oil changes to protect your investment.

If you start tracking it and racing then things are going to wear quicker.

 

And also more than fast enough for British roads

 

Had 650+ on my old type r used it a daily driver for nearly a year, drove it hard given the chance and the only thing i had to change was the rad as it was catching and split at the bottom.

Other than that just servicing and fuel, the car made no sense as a daily driver 99% of times but that 1% when everything cametogetherd was all that mattered good times
