Yep running one here. Completed 2 and half years ago and covered nearly 7k miles, now mainly track/weekend car running 350/380 (still on original 5speed wrx box) no probs.
as with anything if you look after it (and have it done properly in the first place) it will last 👍

GC8 with forged 2.5 on 20g turbo, used for track and 'fun', going strong for years.

If you're looking for one, get it build at a decent place, mine is from subaru4you.
I also have an oil cooler & sport thermostat to make sure that everything stays cool enough. Then ofcourse, a decent ECU (syvecs in mine) and a good mapper (late JGM here) and you should be able to enjoy it for long time.

Oh, i should mention that the current map is running lower BHP (about 380) then the engine can handle, that probably also helps in keeping it performing well.

Mine runs just under 500 on VPower and 525 with meth. Done nearly 50k miles on it, but it did blow headgaskets 20k in to that, so went to 14mm headstuds and Cosworth rather than cometic gaskets.

In the 4 years since that was done I've done TOTB twice, 3 or 4 days on a drag strip, and maybe 6 track days...still going strong.

BUT...I do expect it to suffer some grief at some point, and I will then go for Alyn's CDB inserts, up the boost, and enjoy high 500's

What's the ideal bhp out on tracks some say keep it at about 450bhp is that about right.
I don't want anything to laggy

Depends what track.
On a short track such my local lydden Hill I do not even get it into 6th gear and the big power makes me quick but does not give me a huge advantage as is is largely about the bends there.
On a track say such as Silverstone with a long straight then big power comes into its own.
What will be your home track?

Forget HP
Often the quickest cars are the ones that are most rounded.
Loads of work making the suspension work so it can be really pushed out bends, good brakes and enough power but not too much that is overwhelms the other two aspects of going quick. And focus on the MAP/responsivness/setup needed for that track.
(For example - Say there are loads of bends on your home track that are third gear on entry. Paying alot of attention to getting a set up that spools up quickly on exiting them in third before punching into forth will make you quicker)

I had a 2.0 before i went to 2.5 and i like the 2.5 better. Perhaps the turbo wasn't matched for the 2.0 (same turbo on 2.0 as on 2.5 - 20g).
The 2.5 has immediate response and power builds up nicely, the 2.0 on the other hand... wait for it.. wait for it... and suddenly an immense powersurge rockets the car away keeping you hanging on for dear life.
On track this is mostly not an issue, but if you will drive it on the road, you could find yourself in the wrong gear and then a much less powerful car will humiliate you, hard.
