Hi everyone.

I have just picked up a 1998 Impreza Terzo with a full decat blitz ner spec exhaust.

The car is going to be a daily commuter and is a bit too loud for my liking.

Could I please get some advice regarding either putting the cats back in, adding a different back box or simply swapping out the entire setup for a quiter one.

Also, any specific makes types etc.

I have previously had a turbo 2000 that had the lovely gurgle but was not too Loud and I would like to achieve this if possible.

You can get a bung for the Nur spec like I did, unless it's already got one fitted. Still loud enough with it though. I wouldn't fancy sitting at motorway speeds every day with mine, even with the bung.

 

If the car is running full de cat then I'm guessing it's been mapped at some point so if you change the system and put the cats back in then it's going to need a map tweak.

 

No map as far as I'm aware.

Various engine upgrades and mods etc.

 

Mine was running full decat with a standard map before I got it, ran fine! They run very rich as standard. Of course it's mapped with ESL now

 

I have a 3" cat back system, which will be a lot quitter

 

Are they easily changeable?

Where are you based?

 

If you buy a 3" sports car your sorted, guessing you want a cat?

Going from decat to a standard cat will reduce your bhp, you will notice it straight away
