Where to get headers ported

Default Where to get headers ported

Hi I'm thinking of getting my headers ported, im based in northampton and was wondering if anyone could recommend on who could do this for me,? Is there a company who does this via mail order? Thanks in advanced

http://www.northamptonmotorsport.com are very well regarded. They offer CNC milled heads, so will no doubt have contacts if they can't port themselves. May be worth a butchers...

It's basically smoothing out the ports on the exhaust manifold, thus making it flow a little better.

I'd say a lot better - port matching to the block/gaskets and the turbo can see a few hundred RPM reduction in spool time plus more torque to boot and well worth it on the standard items.

You can see the difference in metal removed :


And still within the line of the stock gaskets - more flow = more go!

Please can you advise who done this for you? or can you do it your self?

Been thinking about doing this to, but i guess after its been done (at home) the headers need washing through? due to swarf left behind inside. whats best to use, power washer,petrol,degreaser etc??

Interested in this thread, surely cheaper to port headers + match up pipe that pay £500 for rcm headers

I did my own at home, used a small conical grind stone in a drill. Also ground the heat shield off and wrapped them afterwards.

So Harvey headers are just basically ported OEM ones?

Think ill go with RCM headers.
