Just asking as someone is advertising a white uk sti bug on ebay saying its 5 speed are they not all 6 speed??? Maybe a typing error????

Just hd pm he has 5 speed in a sti ?????? He says maybe previous owner fitted one!!!! I wouldn't be happy to buy a sti bug and get given a 5 speed it's one of the perks the 6 speed box

thats a toughie, id say it is an sti with gearbox changed, the gator doesnt fit around the stick at all.
it has the brembos and ic spray switch too.
another odd part is the aircon has been removed.

Possible broken gearbox/or taken out for sale or another car and replaced with a cheaper 5 speed!

Wonder if its still running the R180 rear diff and hubs.......

 

If they couldn't afford to get the six speed rebuilt that was originally in the car if it is a genuine STI which on the face of it looks like it is or buy a tidy used box then what else has been neglected??

First mod I'd do. Honest.

 

9whp right off the bat (yep a crazy yank dyno'd it) and 2bhp equivalent saving from the weight of the removal, maybe more if he's removed the ancillaries behind the dash.

2nd mod I did after a remap.

 

Obviously I'd cryo the 5 speed before installing it. I may be synthetic, but I'm not stupid.

 

Could have replaced it with a 5 speed as the gear ratios are different and the 5speed can hit 62 in second where as the STI 6 speed doesn't.
Saying that I prefer the 6speed.
