Default uk2000 eml light, p0336 crankshaft sensor

Hi guys need a lil help with my uk 2000 impreza, i have a intermitent eml light on can happen when hot or cold and normally goes out within a min of coming on. car is running fine doesn't cut out and always starts. it loses a bit of power when the light is on.

I have read the code which is crankshaft sensor a range/performance problem. i have replaced the following with no difference to the light.
crankshaft sensor
cam belt kit ( as timing was half a tooth out)
checked the crank ring
checked the wiring from sensor to ecu
ecu
checked and cleaned earth tags

I'm running out of ideas anybody on here has similar problems?

would the cam sensor affect the code?
many thanks

I didn't even realise classics could return OBD codes.

Have you tried the standard method for classics just to check the code you are getting is valid:-

under heading

"Manually Reading ECU Codes (Classic Impreza’s only)"

Thanks for the reply.

i used snap on solous ultra and kept coming back with that code every time after clearing.

i haven't tried until a min ago and came up with 22 i believe that is knock sensor?
looks like i will have to go down knock sensor route

The odd flash of the EML is most likely the knock sensor. They crack over time and eventually fail. Mine did and had all sorts of problems. I replaced the sensor, cleared the ECU and I've never had any issues since.
