Default Which Newage steering racks are a WRX upgrade?

After a bit of info here. I know the Spec C rack is the best available, but have read conflicting reports on whether an STi rack is quicker than a WRX.

is it only JDM STi racks that are quicker? My car is a 2003, if that makes any difference.

Just replace the bushes with some Pro-Flex items as yours are probably badly worn or split like mine were after almost 12yrs, much cheaper than a Spec C rack and improves things significantly, you might also want to look at replacing a few others too.

Yeah I've looked into the bushes and must say I am very tempted.

is it a steering rack out job though? If it is, then I'd definitely be interested in swapping it over should there be a benefit.

On the other hand, I could probably just change the bushes and then sit tight until a Spec C rack becomes available at the right money.

Ah, so it is a very small improvement then.

Where is the part number stamped, I'm going to under my car tonight?

Is changing from 16:1 to 15:1 worth the effort and cost?

You don't have to remove the rack to change the bushes, it's not difficult either, I did roll bar and rack at the same time and it really did improve the steering feel and turn in, but you do need a decent geo set up too.

JDM sti also has the 13:1 rack (may have been an optional extra in Japan), it is what I have fitted to mine and purchased from Matty @ MB Developments
