looking to get a car cover , has anyone got one they are happy with

i found a group buy on here from 2009 2 people had issues with them fitting and no other reviews ,

For the love of God don't. I bought from this company. Here are the problems I had:

It didn't fit (despite it being tailor made)
The front kept popping off and flapping against the bonnet
It rubs against the paint in the wind scuffing it
Because it flaps, grit and sand (I live near the sea) get between the cover and the paint and it scuffs
It gets damp underneath which is rubbish for rust
Because the cover will get wet you need an area the size of your car where you can take the cover off and let it dry
Bird droppings and strong UV light damages it
I also had a huge problem getting a refund but I they did give it to me in the end

My impreza just stays outside and gets washed, polished and waxed more frequently.

which one did you have i was going to get the stormforce , has 4 layers ,

 

The Stormforce. It's also the devil's own job to put it on, especially if it's windy and the straps are impossible to put on as they have to be laid on the ground first then attached to the cover. The straps don't have anything to stop the buckles coming off either.

The car also has to be bone dry and completely clean before you put it on.

The sent be a "bigger" version (despite it being supposedly being tailor made) when mine didn't fit and that was even worse.

im going to order one and pad mine out with a thin layer of foam or summat to protect against bad hail-stones,we had it really bad here back in 2012 and the car damage was bad

the ones scoobyworld sell are the same ones i found for £30 less . that is the one mistermexican is slating .

 

if you do go for it i would like to know how you find it , are you thinking about the storm or voyager

 

the storm but after hearing the bad things i might not,surely there is a company who can custom make one

 

might be worth sending out a few emails to see if a group buy is on the cards

cover your car do the ones we were talking about , i think for anything better we woul have to be willing to spend around an extra £100.

i know it will be a pain to fit in the wind , i could deal with that , but if it blows off thats no use , unless there was a way to secure it better

keeping it clean and waxed will help but i want to keep water out of doors and engine bay , where it can lie . another bad spot is around the boot seal

I might have just had a bad experience with mine. But I did find experiences from other sites (for Evos and others) that had had the same effect or worse.

However, I don't think that any car cover is really useful for outdoor use.

If you imagine that it's on every night if it's a daily driver. That means for at least 8 hours your have material on your car that is being moved by the wind. Let's say it flaps. Would you spend 8 hours hitting your car repeatedly with a piece of fabric?

Let's say it doesn't flap and fits snugly. This means it's in close contact with the paint being moved back and forth slightly. Would you spend 8 hours rubbing a piece of fabric on a single part of the car?

 

the car isnt a dailly driver so hitting it and rubbing it for like 100 hours is a bad idea.

what about having a snug fitting indoor cover under a water proof flapping job , i really want it protected from the rain and a garage isnt an option

 

I've got the Storm-force one for my classic Impreza

Great fit with the STI rear spoiler

Survived a harsh Aberdeen shire winter being strapped underneath, never once blew off and did a good job of protecting it.

Also kept it on as a dust sheet during it's rebuild for last 12 month's. It's worked well and still in good condition, the seams and threads have held together really well.

It was expensive and a little over the top, however it looked after the scoob and it did what i wanted

 

That's what I wanted to hear , do you still use it , would you consider selling it ?

 

It might be that the bug/blob/hawks are all the same and fit one really well but not the others. They might fit better on the classics.

 

I bought a Sarhara cover from Coverzone for my Hawk STI, cost me £69 delivered and I must say it does the job nicely....

I agree Glen, I wanted an indoor cover, however they also do outside ones in their range as well

The fit is good and the under strap plastic buckles are covered in a clear rubber shroud so they don’t scratch the car when fitting which I thought was a good idea, F*****G nightmaire to put on a freshly polished car though its definitely a 2 man job

For the money its a good cover

I've said it before and I'll say it again. That garage is lovely, I really like it with the stone corners. All it needs is a roller shutter in order to free up a bit of head room.
