Hi there

Where is yours sensor fitted on which cylinder?

100C is bit high if you are just driving, but when you are pushing the car or when you on the track then those temps are OK

What oil are you using?

Thanks,Jura

Don't worry mate, my car sits at just under 90 but if I push it a bit or get stuck in lots of traffic it will go to 100. On the motorway at a steady speed it will stick around 85

First thing is to verify the accuracy of the gauge.

Oil temp is quite important so if it's a cheap gauge it would be worth getting decent reliable one.

Is the gauge electrical or direct reading? When you say 'cheap gauge' do you know the make?
If it's direct reading, the best way to check is to immerse the sender into a cup of boiling water and check it's reading 100c

The gauge is the needle type
not digital
will have to remove it and test it in some water

Hi there

I wouldn't worry about the higher temperature, with mineral oil you can have higher oil temps there

Yes good gauge with good sensor is always good to have,if you have poor gauge with poor reading sensor, you will be more worried than driving without the

Do you have oil pressure gauge too?

Thanks,Jura

Yes that's correct there

Thanks,Jura

Just don't worry about the engine,I've been worried too when I've heard anything and I've logged almost on daily basis or after every driving etc

I know how is it

Good luck there

Thanks,Jura

I think what's more important is what's "normal" for your engine / gauge combination.

Then once used to that you only need to be concerned if something changes IMHO.

Hi there

Yes oil pressure is in my view more important than Oil temperature, just due when you loose oil pressure then you loose engine

Higher oil temperature can be down to the oil and his viscosity

And yes yours oil pressure is good in my view

Thanks,Jura

I would say not my oil pressure sits between 6 & 8 if it drops below it means for me the oil is running a little low

Mine sits over 7 till oil gets warm then drops to 3 bar when warm on idle
when driving will be 5bar to 7 bar
and on idle 3 bar
thats good in my eyes

Ur never gonna have 6/8 bar of oil pressure unless your tick over is
4000rpm
oil pressure rises with rpm

Also remember number 3 is the hottest part of the engine. So you will often get a higher reading there. That is where mine is, as a safety thing. As jura says presure is important. The needle flickering, a fluctation of pressure is the usual warning sign to look for, not so much a steady lowish or highish pressure reading.
