Default I don't suppose you know this car from Scarborough?

I'm just a tad curious here ...

I don't suppose anyone here has any info on this car I've bought or knows anything about it ? It was advertised on a well know auction site ? 301245021947

We put in an offer earlier today which was accepted and a £1000 lower that the BIN price however I'm a little concerned as its done 85000 miles which isn't a lot but he now can't find any proof of the belts being done..

It looks an awesome car and could well be and probably is a totally genuine sale but as I'm in Hampshire and he's 5.5 hours away up in Scarborough its a hell of a drive to me disappointed !

I just thought maybe as he seems pretty enthusiastic about his Scooby it just maybe known on here and all for good reasons ..

Thanks
Julie

Just make sure the headgasket is not on the way out, take it for a long test drive before you hand any cash over!!!

If you offered £1000 less then the asking price,am I guessing you paid around £7k for a hawk sti??? if so thats very cheap.

Hi there peeps this is my impreza, and yes this is cheap, before anyone slates me I am selling to buy a Range Rover (super charged v8 petrol) lol

Belts have been done around 41000 miles and the service book has been stamped to show this.

Genuine wide track STI, just need to get something alittle more family friendly for the wife, baby and dog to all go in.

Hope this clears things up and puts peoples minds at ease.

Cheers Carl

Thanks guys for your speedy response, its much appreciated.
I put in an offer of £7750 and it was set up to accept it straight away..
But your right, it is pretty flippin cheap for a Hawkeye hence my excitement..

He's text me back and isn't being at all pushy and says its my shout as I voiced my opinions...

I don't know maybe I'm just worrying too much but sometimes a bargain isn't really a bargain at all underneath all the pretty exterior....

Thanks to 2004carlp for updating us on the belts front, I thought you said you had only the previous guys word they had been changed hence our worry ?
but if you have the booked stamped there's no problem .....

Buying a car privately is always risky, but he sounds pretty straight.

hi just to let you all know that my car is now back up for sale, relisted on a very well know auction site :-) (301247609216), this is due to the buyer pulling out this morning after the offer placed was excepted.

if you know of anyone looking for a Genuine honest wide track STI, give me a shout.

Cheers Peeps

Was it just me or the buyer asked for belts being done?
1st owner said can't find ATM.
Secondly buyer says 'I thought you said you only had previous owners word for it'.
Lastly, it's now stamped in service book........

.......I smell.....?

The only reason main dealers would hold a main belt change If a subaru main authorised dealer did it.

Exactly ,, if it was done at 41k it sounds like it was done a bit early by a fastidious owner and the car was young then so highly likely to be main dealer

Not necessarily done early, 01-05 Newage cars belts were done at 50k/5 years. At 5 years old my 05 had 37k on the clock.

bustaMOVEs

the buyer made me a offer on ebay which i exepted, done deal. Then he starts asking me have the belts been done to which i said i dont know I am at work, I will check when I get home, i told him that the previous owner had told me that he had the belts done.

I later got home looked in the service book and found that it had been serviced including cam belt by lawrence of kemnay at 41239 miles, which i sent a picture of the service book with stamp to him as proof.

So stop trying the stir ****, the only thing that stinks around here is your attitude ;-)

I'm not stirring, your last statement was not called for, I simply read along the lines and didn't make sense of it, also the seller pulled out so I found it a bit strange.
You could of left the last statement out and I would of reply ok, sorry now you explained, but now you get a BIG .

I didn't realise this thread was still being added too so I'll put my two-pennith in ! We did back out of the deal and we did apologise but you just didn't give straight answers. What you said originally was you only had the previous guys word that the belts had been done and as you were so away from us we weren't prepared to risk driving it back with it needing belts replacing almost immediately....
It was a great looking car and the price amazing and if we have lost out then so be it but we weren't the 1st to pull out according to you, that also seemed odd !
By the way you can ask eBay to cancel the transaction and you can get your final value sellers fees back, you didn't need to open a case !
