Well It could've had a CAT300, but the alarm and immoboliser was overidin very easy, they stole the keys from inside the house, through the letter box. Be warned - Hide ur keys when goin bed@@!! Boo Hoo I miss it

I thought I was safe enough putting the keys in the kitchen - Couldn't be seen from outside - Cat 1 alarm and immob - disklok - large chain - Last month the scumbags broke into the house, stole the keys and a load of other stuff as well. Next car will have no alarm, no immobiliser and I'll leave the keys in the ignition. That way nothing else will get damaged when the low-life piece of **** good for nothing dirt bags come calling

I thought I was safe enough putting the keys in the kitchen - Couldn't be seen from outside - Cat 1 alarm and immob - disklok - large chain - Last month the scumbags broke into the house, stole the keys and a load of other stuff as well. Next car will have no alarm, no immobiliser and I'll leave the keys in the ignition. That way nothing else will get damaged when the low-life piece of **** good for nothing dirt bags come calling

Just a word about alarms n keys.
I have a Sigma Cat 1 system fitted and it allows me to disable the key fobs so that the scumbags could nick the keys if they wanted but the blippers would not work .
Just thought I'd mention it.
I had a Golf GTi nicked a few years ago so I know how you guy's feel. It woould be putting it very mildly if I said some knee capping was in order !

'kin sick of it all, House burgled twice, Garage turned over twice, Car stolen (Sierra Cossie) twice off the drive, well 1.5, nearly caught the sods 2nd time BUT also v nearly seriously assaulted two totally innocent youths 
BTW different houses/locations, so maybe I'm just unlucky. But take it from me I do know how you're feelin, and worse still the Police don't care:

Is it worth bearing in mind that it's not always a good idea giving the thieves cause to come after you because...
- they can't find the keys
- they can't work the keys
- you're chasing after them with a baseball bat
I have a BB in the house and I'd use it, but only after thinking very carefully what might happen to my wife and 2 very young kids.
I think the only trouble free defence (from the robbing scum and the official scum) is a big dog!

I keep the keys for my cars in the bedroom always (worth the hassle), a solid wood Baseball bat and an eleven stone rottweiler in the house.
Unfortunatly I have a lot of scummy kids that hang around a particularly scummy house owned by a particularly scummy family in our otherwise very nice cul-de-sac. Kevved up escorts,astras, sub-basement lowered golfs etc owned by these to$$ers come hooning into and out of my road at all hours doing wheelspins, donuts and using it as an ice rink in the winter, oh and also dump cars that they steal etc at the end. Since this family moved in, multiple nice cars (skylines,scoobies etc) have been stolen from around the area. The kids hang around on the street, spitting and pi$$ing freely and generally cause damage. I have had no problems with my car or property yet, but I let them know that I am onto them. Frequently go out and tell them to get lost and act like scum in their own streets and the dog doesn't like them much either
Where do these people come from. Can't people bring their kids up properly any more?
Going to sound like a snob, but IMHO 'it's in the breeding' as i like to put it.
I am just sorry for all of the people that have lost cars thanks to scum like this.
1 last thing. Occasionally the kids seem to 'acquire' old bangers and leave them in our street, usually across from my house. Last week, found an mildly kevved escort outside with smashed drivers window, impact smashes on the windscreen, wires hanging out everywhere on the interior, but it had not been hotwired oh, and no fuel cap. Next evening a white van crawled up and dropped a youth off 20 yard away with a big steel bar (why???). Asked him if the car was his. 'err........yes'. Told him to get that piece of **** away from my house and told him that I had called the police (the police unfortunatly were completely unhelpful, despite the open fuel tank). He had the gall to say 'did you have to do that?' I didn't even bother to reply. Drove off with still open tank. Car came back 2 days later left at the end of the road. Midnight mission. Filled up big watering can with water, lots of sugar and soap powder and deposited in tank. They came back the next day and collected it. Drove 100 yards out of the road and I heard a lovely, big bang bang. Larfed my *** off. Suffice to say that I have not seen the car or youth since!
Not to detract from the subject above, but I have had it with these sorts of people nowadays.......
Sorry for going on, but I did need to rant after all!
Obviously all of the above statement is a lie and therefore not admissable in a court of law

in reply to the thought about the open petrol cap on the car, i was told by a mechanic that if your petrol cap went missing (lockable type) then you could expect the car to soon follow. Apparently theives nick the cap and take them to the local dealer and can then have a key cut to the lock on the cap.
So if anyone has a lockable petrol cap it would be wise to get another one from a breakers or halfords, etc so the locks are different to the doors and ignition

Mr Footlong - I do the same as you. Keys, wallet, mobile phone and baseball bat in my bedroom. Haven't got the dog but my cat would trip the buggers up by crawling around their legs...

Some little TNUC did my P1 the other night and had my Sony "active black panel" headunit away, whist busting up the dashboard and lock in the process.
We were in a pub and didn't hear the alarm go off!
Police have been really good though and seem to be very proactive at the moment about stamping this kind of thing out.

It really is a sad state of affairs when the law basically dictates that you will get done more for actively defending your property/self than the perpetrator of the crime against yourself.
I am in no way promoting violence against scum, but I have no problems with this myself. People that have no respect for others and the law deserve everything that they get.....

Now you've got me at it again.
Yep I used to have a big dog, Great Dane, and I don't mean one of those overgrown greyhounds they troop around Crufts.
Cost me a bloody fortune in Vets bills to sow up a Sheepdog he was throwing around one day. But they can't be in the house and the car at the same time, I know. Mind the missus wanted to replace him with two s'pose that would work. BTW I wouldn't have pursued anyone down the road without him.

Second time the garage was done, fingerprints indicated 12 to 14 year olds. In addition to kit from the garage they emptied a big chest freezer. What's a 12 year old going to do with joints of beef & pork chops? The problem is the parents NOT the kids and a system that allows them to get away with it!
Oh I forgot, had the car window smashed and gear taken, wallet nicked from a draw in my office desk. Also had the garden furniture & barbie nicked. Usual response "do you really want an officer to call" when he arrived he said "between you and me I can tell you where it's likely to be. Just go round look mean and tell em you want it back, if they've got it they give it to you".
Went into home and family mode & filed the address, maybe sufficient times had elapsed, forme to got it out!
After these events you spend months waking at the slightest noise, go away for the weekend hoping that everything will be OK when you get back. Take it from me it can ruin periods of your life.
Now I've, security lights alarms, strategically placed "equipment" around the house and in the car. My wife says its not worth it, but if somethings tried when I'm around I have a detailed plan. I'm aging now and hope I never need to find out if I've the bottle to carry it out.
Don't give me the hand it over its only material possessions and the insurance will cover it crap, it just plays into their hands by making life even easier for them.
The ba$tards have taken irreplacable items of great sentimental, but almost no material value, items of great sentimental and material value plus things of value that I don't give a monkeys about.
Don't have nightmares, I'm just unlucky, but if you see a have-a-go grandad sent down you'll know the camels back was broken and he did have the ***** to fight back.
There's another evening they ruined!
The Saudies have almost got the legislation right. They cut off thieves hands, thing is they should amputate them at the waist.

I nearly lost mine A few months back, Leaving girlfriends a silver astra coming the other way handbraked behind me then raced up the side and blocked me at the junction. I looked over and saw 4 guys all balaclaverd up, froze for a split second then got it together. The rear passenger jumped out and swung a small pole or bat at the window but lent on my wing mirror to get a swing as I was reversing and he fell down. I reversed hard (never looked behind, just hoped nothing was there) and spun it round. Astra gave chase but gave up. There was a perfect hand print but the police wouldn't take any prints(they told me I was lucky a guy a week before exactly the same but he got out, they cracked him over the head and left him in the road). The police have now advised me to put pentagon secure film on the windows, its booked in for tomorrow. Bugger is if I'd have run him over I bet I'd be the one getting done.

I had an arguement with a youth in a kevved escort at the weekend...
Turning right out of my road you can only see for about 20car lengths up the hill.
It is a 30mph zone and if you pull out and cannot see anything coming and a car appears if they are doing 30 to 40mph there is enough time for you to exit the road without them adjusting there speed, they might hesitate but there is enough time.
Anyway this guy comes hacking it down at 60mph plus and I pull out whilst it is clear, I had my wife and 7month daughter in the car so I was being sensible, and he steams towards me and screaches his tyres and only just misses me. I stopped to check everything was okay and he starts raving at me..
so I point to the 30mph sign... and then suggest he tries turning right out of the junction so he can see how little you can see and if someone is doubling the limit etc... anyway he eventually drives off saying I'll be back when it is dark etc..
Well he hasn't returned yet, boy am I ready though...

JGM, you did bloody well to restrain yourself that much, respect for that. Just glad that you guys and the mean green machine didn't get damaged. I am not nearly as reserved as that, not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but as you've seen, I am bigger than most, so maybe I worry less.....

I think that as soon as you violate another persons rights, you should lose ALL rights of your own. If people get their heads kicked in while ransacking someones property, well they shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Thats the bit that REALLY gets up my nose. There you are trying to avoid getting your head caved in by a baseball bat and you run the 'passenger' over and break his leg. Who's the one that ends up in court???
I think that as soon as you violate another persons rights, you should lose ALL rights of your own. If people get their heads kicked in while ransacking someones property, well they shouldn't have been there in the first place.

i aint joking! i have claw hammer under my bed, an english bull terrier downstairs, a coppers telescopic cosh in my jacket,and a baseball bat in my shop. i will not roll over and give in. if someone was stupid enough to try and carjack me, i would take great pleasure in running them over. i would then reverse over them. i would then send some 'mates' of mine round to make their lives misery.
as i say, i have no qualms about this. i hope it never happens, i aint spoiling for a fight, but i have no faith in the police, even less in the courts. its every man for himself. i aint paranoid, i just see this country going to the dogs. and when i move to my new house in the not too distant future, i will happily have a sawn off under my bed

I am a great believer in the old fashioned stocks for petty criminals. The problem is it is cool to spend a night in the cells these days. What it's not so cool to do is be put in stocks on a Saturday morning and spend the day there while people throw rotten eggs and tomatoes at you etc. etc.
Alternatively they should be forced to walk around their local town with their parents each Saturday with a sandwich board reading 'I am your local thieving Low Life. Spit on me if you want'
Two ideal punishments in my eyes, minimal cool, maximum embarrasment.

They wouldn't take his prints because they couldn't be a*sed in my opinion. I even put a plastic bag over it till they got there, incase it rained. It wasn't worth going to the paper, cus plod would hound me. Anyway this is a common occurrence at the moment in Brum. I'm only lucky he didn't have a gun(not sure what I'd do in that situation)
