Been concentrating on my running a lot lately. Managed to get my usual route of 8.2 miles down to 56 minutes, which is a big improvement from 6 months ago. I left the Army in March after 13 years, and have strangely found myself enjoying exercise a lot more. I've always been into exercise, but now I've got more time and can do what I want to do, am enjoying it a lot more. Probably because now I don't get forced to rubbish like Cross-fit

I have just started back at the gym as it's been years for me , I did 1000m on the rower and it nearly killed me but three weeks later 5000m wasn't an issue apart from it's not comfortable on your bum.
I used to do sit-ups on the bench on top incline in sets of 50 but someone much younger than me said I had inspired him to do more as he struggled so I now do them in sets of 100 so that way I know they can't be done by most people and I don't have to hear that "inspired me " crap

The latter half of the vide is part of the bike route. They ran a 5k bike loop up one side of the lake and the run up the other side.
Problem with it bring flat like that is a combination of headwinds and absolutely no downhill respite to recover. You're on the power all the time.
Only two sprints left this year thank goodness!

I did a thread about my weight a few years back,
https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...ed-spread.html
Was up and down but seemed to have nailed it now, I hit 18 st 2 last August, now 14 and a half, lightest have been in years, been at the gym so have lost fat plus gained some muscle as well, not super lean yet, hovering at 20 percent BF but its made a huge difference, 34 inch waist pants fit where 38's were tight before, feel loads better. A lot fitter as well, a hill that used to floor me on my bike didnt really even register yesterday.
The last stone is proving difficult, but am maintaining, weigh myself most days and it keeps me on track, thats the way it has to be, its s difficult truth but life is easier when you are slimmer and to be slim you have to watch what you eat and do some exercise, which isnt hard but can require some serious changes to your lifestyle and food choices, I just cant have booze, takeaways and crap every day, like they used to be in the past, should be an occasional treat.
Wife has gone from 12 and a bit to nine stone as well.

Very annoyed with self recently.
Compete in tough mudder at the end of July, the day before TOTB which I also competed in, to then go paint balling late July for everything to go wrong!
I went Over on my ankle during paint balling to then go on holiday two days later. I had every intention to jog around Lanzarote as I have done in the past, but inflamed ankle meant I was pretty much beached, punt intended! Unable to jog, and an appetite like a horse, as you do in holiday mode, I put a little beef on. Last day of the holiday I was fecking around the pool with the kids and buggered my wrist!
Now tipping over 15 stone I'm back at the gym ( never really stopped, just struggled ), but need to suppress my appetite.
What is the best way to eat less but feel more full?

5 weeks in and 20 lb down, got tired of aiming for size, going for abs and being athletic.
Currently 94kg 212lb odd. Hopefully a few more weeks will finish this.
Harsh diet, but I want it over and done with.

Happens to the best of us unfortunately, just looking at food makes me put on weight and I don't eat half of what I used to.

Sounds like you're getting old mate ... you'll have to learn to take it a little easier on yourself now as those little injuries become more frequent and take a lot longer to shake off/ heal.

will look into this, I've always shy'd away from carbs when cutting, but I think this might have been the wrong thing to do. I just need to eat right and do more cardio.
That's been my theory and practice in the past, generally following the Keto diets of around 1.5g protein per lb of weight, and good fats such as fish and nuts.

Checking in!
Well it's been almost a month since I complained I was tipping over 15 stone, so what have I done about it...
Mild reintroduction into cardio at the gym only for the moment while I get my feet (punt intended) following my ankle injury a few months ago. Continued with my weight lifting excercises and finally cracked my diet for now.
Last visit to the scales was 14.3, so please it's a good loss, but equally conscious and satisfied that it's not too much too soon. I've hit fatigue a few days at the gym, and I have had cravings, but I believe I've got it sawn up.
Long may it continue, goal is low 13 stone before the end of the year. My ideal feel, look, and overall self satisfaction was when I was at 12.12 but I think this was a bit too light, and would hard to sustain.
I've got some BF scales, but it only works with my personal phone which is fooked, so I've another one coming so I can begin keep a better track of BF rather than weight which is more important to me, and everyone I would hope.
Checking out!

On the flip side, cardio is now a sight easier, and I've drastically reduced by sciatica, partly from the weight, and changing my supplements by coming up with my own little mix.
I'll probably be looking at least another few weeks, I did back off a bit and had me a few protein bars, that was some much needed relief.
hopefully when I come off i'll bounce back fast, few of the lads in the gym could do with being shown how it's done

I need to be brutal with my diet, I've let myself slip and slip badly
Starting tomorrow I'm going to be more strict with my diet and keep a proper eye on my weight each week and chart my progress, hopefully in the right direction.
I've put roughly 2st 7lbs on since the middle of last year and probably close to 3st since the tail end of 2015. It's getting me down big time, only myself to blame. It's time to do something about it.

Thanks for the advice, I have ordered 10 pasta, 10 Rice, 10 noodle bags
I had a weekend off and felt great for it, however I'm back on it again now and looking forward to hitting the gym in 30 minutes time! 30 minutes on the treadmill followed by a monster chest workout I feel, just hope someone is available to spot me

Once you start to document, I find I keep hold of the reins. It is easy to stray without monitoring. The low carb diet works for me, 5% Carb, 65% Good fats, 30% protein. Some people run the fats higher and drop the protein, but I think my macros work well for me. I feel your pain with the weight, it is very simple to drift, I was 12.12 over Christmas and was probably the best shape I have ever been in, then only a few months ago I weighed in at 15.3 . Currently sat at 91 kg which I think converts to 14.5 so I'm heading in the right direction.
The best app I find out there is MyFitnessPal, I don't use it for fitness recording, but the food intake side of it is great.
Some will say I am yo-yoing my diet, however I wasn't and I am not, it was a combination of work and personal events lead me off the straight and narrow followed by a few injuries!

I've used that app before so that's a good shout, my biggest problem is the crap I eat, especially later on at night. If I can get that under control coupled with my cycling then I'm sure my weight will drop.

Well my bulk load of H&B no carb Pasta, Rice, and Noodles have arrived..... Not a fan to be honest as they are like plastic, however they do fill a hole so I will continue for now - not a fan of wasting money or food, come to think of it this is one of my down falls as I have two kids, and to try and keep traditional values we eat at the dining table so I become the resident Labrador finishing of the kids meals - haha!
Well I have been in a ketogenic state now for over a month with one planned slippage to give myself a reset. I have just about mastered it now, eating frequent but the right foods to suit my diet. My Macro is quite harsh at 70% fats, 25% Protein and 5% Carbohydrates. However when you draw this out, or in my case use the "Myfitnesspal" app, the intake for the day is quite healthy - certainly no Atkins diet that's for the sure!
My fitness has changed to adapt to suit the slight dip in strength and energy levels, I'm working more towards higher rep lighter weight, or super setting, and then once complete I'm hitting the treadmill for 30-40 minutes with my headphones on and some video tutorials from either Athlean-X, Jeff Nippard, Six Packs, and Mike Thurston. Yes I know there is occasionally some BS in these video's, but you learn to filter out the cr_p.
Results are slow as I'm not attempting to do this rapidly, but I'm happy with the way I'm moving forward, BF is reducing slowly <27%, and my Muscle is sustaining ~ 49%

Yeah it can be an accquired taste, they'll take the flavour of whatever you throw in so time to get creative with some spices.
The rice is by far the easiest to stomach, they sell a different one in morrisons, that you might find a bit more enjoyable, I'll shovel anything down so long as it gets the job done.
Haven't weighed myself, but not much point now I know what needs doing.
Given myself a day off, so got carbs inside and going to go and lift for a bit, should be little verbal diahorrea to listen to.
Plus I had to back off, felt awful at times, so clearly my body was telling me to back off a bit, I will be but only a tiny bit.

congrats zany well done. im sitting around 30 stone at the minute, strength is good but fitness is poor so this year gonna have a big push on my cardio as well as strength training. probably gonna drop down to 26 stone and see how i feel at that weight, set myself a few goals for this year, i wanna squat 275kg and deadlift 300kg+ by the end of 2018 and hopefully enter some strongman comps towards the end of the year
