Well SOME of it could come from the companies that make the £billions a day when they go on strike?
Did you engage your brain when you posted that? If you could point out which companies in London collectively make a billion a day, that would be a start. You're talking about an extra £70m alone on top of what the 1500 or so drivers already receive. But of course, it won't stop there, as the rest of the 11,000 or so London Underground staff will also want their salaries doubled too as they would not stand for the huge disparity and inequality between what they and the drivers get. I would rather that money go towards those who are low paid in other public services starting with those working hospitals and schools than on the already very generously paid tube drivers.
Besides all businesses in London fund the London transport system through taxation already, in fact all businesses in England go some way to fund London's transport system, 32% of the nation's transport budget is spent on London. It's all very well you say that businesses which generate a lot of renvenue should pay more (I'm guessing you mean revenue, as no businesses in London that I know of can generate a billion profit per day!), but what would you propose on how this extra tax be implimented and which businesses are to be targeted and by how much?
When the staff are on £65k a year no wonder they loved Bob Crow - I would have too!
I wonder what will happen now though, now the anarchic marxist communist RMT leader is no more...

Couldn't agree more, just the way he spoke took me back to the 70's

Alcazar, you have to remember it is all very easy to justify Crow's actions if you make out that the people who suffer when he striked were evil corporations.
However the actual fact of the matter is that the majority of people who suffer ie 90%+ have nothing to do with the financial industry. Many of them will be on a lot less than £65,000k a year + plenty of holidays.
Out of interest, have you ever been in London when he has called a strike? You should see the chaos, the roads are gridlocked. Everybody suffers, the very low paid probably lose out more than anybody else. Even ambulances and other emergency services struggle to get about, children can't get to school etc.
The only way you get to live in London is if you're wealthy enough to do so or if you're an asylum seeker.
Or if you're a politician of London level.
Buskers live in London as well. Not all of them are asylum seekers. Well, they may be, as most of them are either costumed top to toe as a robot or a statue, or cover their face at least with face paints.
Homeless people also live in London with a sleeping bag and a shabby dog, you don't see them anywhere else in the UK. and most of them are not asylum seekers but locals. They can't get housing because asylum seekers have been squatted into all the available housing via the help of the wretched Government.
I think it's bloody disgraceful to wish people to 'rot in hell'
Get over yourself. Thatcher wrecked this country, she deserves it. Quite a few posters on this board are the arrogant selfish ***** they are because of her making that sort of behaviour acceptable!

Get over yourself mate!
She made this country after years of Labour and union carnage - just a shame she didn't do anything about government monopolies on education and health provision.
And to boot, she saved whole communities from working in mines - you know, the kind of work that slaves would have done in times of yore.

Yep, by putting thase communities on the dole and all over a personal spat with Arrthur Scargill... who by the way was right all along as the documents released last year proved!

Were these the same documents that showed Scagfill was in cahoots with the Libyans and Russians for funding, and also queried the huge amounts of missing money some of which was found in the bank accounts of his mother and his PA.
One of the key reasons Scargill took the miners out on strike was the government's so called secret plan to close up to 70 pits, the existence of which was always officially denied by Thatcher's government.
Cabinet papers released late last year showed that such a plan did indeed exist after all. Oh well, a bit late now
